A Poem

Not a system announcement, but related to the tragedy in the US.

We received this nice poem in the mail from one of our users and thought we’d share it.

the gap

by elysabeth forrest

there’s a gap in the famed skyline

where two towers used to stand

in the place of the majestic scene

there’s a lonely plot of land

life’s been somewhat different

since that tragic autumn day

but we will only grow stronger

and will learn from this some way.

there’s a gap in the famed skyline

just a lonely plot of land

but the hatred shall not daunt us

and united we shall stand

If anyone has any they’ve written themselves, feel free to add them as comments or mail them in and we’ll put them somewhere – if we get a few more we’ll put together a tribute page with them all on.

Stay strong.

Matt.

  1. A moment in time.

    Across the sea…
    Across the land…
    A thousand miles…
    A thousand more…
And yet the worlds eyes turn one way today.

    A target hit…
    A highrise in flames…
    The dust rises…
    The smoke billows…

And the world’s people stare on in disbelief and fear.

    A nameless face…
    A reaching arm…
    A screaming voice…
    A plea for help…

And yet help won’t reach that far to make a difference fast enough.

    Twisted metal…
    Broken glass…
    Shattered foundations…
    Crumbling walls…

And we pray and hope that someone will emerge from a pile of rubble the fallen buildings leave.

    The fingers point…
    Speculations are made…
    The loss of life…
The casualties of an unexpected attack…

And the whole world waits for resolution and explanation.

  2. Thanks for the great poems. Its so nice to see the world coming to the aid of another country. For the longest time I didn’t think there was much compasion in the world. Now after this terrible tragedy that will be etched in everyone’s minds forever I’m seeing the world in a different light.
