HUGE numbers of people who have, at some point, had email addresses in their address book, can expect to receive unsolicited emails from our server, telling them that they may have a virus on their computer.

Because they may have a virus/worm on their computer, quite simply.

I’ve checked the logs today and at least 10 people have tried sending bogus double extension attachments to [email protected], or [email protected] and I finally managed to update the email system (as part of looking into Jade’s little problem) to mail people back if they send us bogus attachments that we refuse to deliver.

So there you go. If you get one of those messages, just get some decent antivirus software or convince your ISP to implement some sensible level of filtering to your mail, its much easier 🙂
