I’d been made aware of a bunch of seperate bugs with the Manage Friends screen, notably that changing the option from Automatically Accept to Manually Review didn’t work (and from looking at the code it never could – I’ve no idea how I managed to come up with the idea that it worked when I…
Greetings again everyone, 2 entries in one day – although I must have my timezone set wrong cos the system thinks its 2 days, but anyway… So, after a Reader Comment that talked about not being happy for a Plus account holder to not be able to add links in entries, it struck…
Well, Steve got the system upgraded to the latest PHP (4.0.3pl1) today, and brought the Optimizer online so the PHP is now using a fair bit less system resource than it was (not that it was all that bad in the first place to be honest). The upgrade blew up the PHP source though which…
Interesting, I can see the need for being able to have conversations in comments (and have everyone notified that a new reply has been added!) now. Actually I could before, but I'd really liked to have used such a feature for this response… Oh well, consider it the next job on the list for me…
Apologies, I don’t get much time to warn about impromptu reboots these days, mostly because I only get to work on the server in the evenings. Anyway, I rebooted the server with the new Linux kernel version installed. This new one has various kernel semaphore fixes which should improve the SMP (dual processor) capability. And…
I appreciate your work. Thank you 🙂
Test comments now…
yes, i am comforted to know you’re working at it. thanks.
🙂
No problem, Steve, a little PHP downtime and sporadic site access is worth it in the short term if it means the site works better in the long term. We appreciate all your hard work!! =)
So all the login issues and stuff is related to that? I’m used to like full on down. Like access to nothing. The partial acces thing is all confusing me.
Oh well. Have fun debugging. 🙂
We will sit on the sidelines, cheering you on admiringly! Hope your work goes quickly and without too many frustrations.
Hugs,
Ani

ahem…just tested…actually, Steve, the internal server error is still present 🙁 it is only appears in old diaries with millions of entries and easily gets rid of by refreshing browser…personally I don’t mind doing it, I’d think many other won’t either. as long as it is a known bug with a known resolve…I wouldn’t worry much 😉

I’m not getting anymore of those, "Skeleton diary doesn’t exist" things anymore. I don’t have the skeleton diary… nor did I really care if it existed. Just wondered why login would be going there. lol
Hope you have fun with your bugs today. 🙂 Someday this will all be automated and all you’ll have to do is sit there and watch it work for you.
