DearDiary.Net served over a quarter of a million pages last week… Thats PAGES, not requests. We served well in excess of a million requests (that includes images and such like). Thought you might like to know 🙂
You can now safely change your Jabber password through the Jabber client and it will be reflected in DearDiary and all other AtomIC sites as well. So its worth remembering. If you change it in Jabber it ALSO changes your DearDiary.Net password. And vice versa, if you change your DearDiary.Net password, it changes your Jabber…
The code has been reworked (man that code is so old its scary) and the dodgy query (which looks like it might have been responsible for half the problems on the server in the last year!) has been redone in a somewhat better fashion. The recent updates list is therefore back on the system and…
I had one this morning…. It looks like its from Microsoft, it has copyright Microsoft all over it. It arrived in my email with an attachment. It is NOT from Microsoft. Microsoft do not send patches by email and are highly unlikely to ever do so. Please do NOT open or run the attachment. If…
I’ve made some tweaks to the database, and Matt made some tweaks to how the hits system works now, so that in theory, the system should be able to work a bit better for the people that deserve it, ie you guys reading this! Its a temporary step. The server is overloaded and we’re running…
It appears that PHP is causing seg faults within the web server (nothing much new there, it always did look like a buggy PoS ;)) so you may find on occasions that the web site doesn’t respond like it should. I shall look into what, if anything, I can do to fix it (given that…
I appreciate your work. Thank you 🙂
Test comments now…
yes, i am comforted to know you’re working at it. thanks.
🙂
No problem, Steve, a little PHP downtime and sporadic site access is worth it in the short term if it means the site works better in the long term. We appreciate all your hard work!! =)
So all the login issues and stuff is related to that? I’m used to like full on down. Like access to nothing. The partial acces thing is all confusing me.
Oh well. Have fun debugging. 🙂
We will sit on the sidelines, cheering you on admiringly! Hope your work goes quickly and without too many frustrations.
Hugs,
Ani

ahem…just tested…actually, Steve, the internal server error is still present 🙁 it is only appears in old diaries with millions of entries and easily gets rid of by refreshing browser…personally I don’t mind doing it, I’d think many other won’t either. as long as it is a known bug with a known resolve…I wouldn’t worry much 😉

I’m not getting anymore of those, "Skeleton diary doesn’t exist" things anymore. I don’t have the skeleton diary… nor did I really care if it existed. Just wondered why login would be going there. lol
Hope you have fun with your bugs today. 🙂 Someday this will all be automated and all you’ll have to do is sit there and watch it work for you.
