I’ve made a slight tweak to the authentication modules at the recommendation of one of the other users of the MySQL Auth Module (Mark Blair) so I’m trying that one out to see if it stops the Apache box from restarting every hour or so. Most people won’t notice any difference with any luck, but…
Hi Everyone, A couple of quick announcements… Firstly, after a user request for a facility to allow searching of your own diary (possible already with the Search engine) we have updated it slightly to allow you to put a link to it on your own diary. When you want to search a particular users’ diary…
This entry is likely to be emotional, and I may swear a bit. Most of it is not directed at individuals, because I don’t (yet) know who the individuals are. You know who you are though, so take heed. This is aimed at the supposed adults of this site. Those who are at least adult…
I’ve been advised that the server is chucking out a LOT of Internal Server Errors. Not for every request, but for enough for it to be considerably annoying. At the moment I have very limited information to go because there’s nothing in the log file to indicate why this is happening (although it does indicate…
I shall be performing a purge of expired Plus Users Hamipiks accounts within the next few weeks. If your account used to be a Plus account and has since expired, your pictures will shortly be removed unless you are going to re-Plus your account. At this point I have no idea who will be affected…
I have brought in a new feature for Plus Account holders. It is now possible to set your entire diary to be ‘Friends Only’ which removes the need to specify each individual entry as Friends Only if you know you only ever want friends alone to be able to access the entire diary. The login…
Really thanks for your hard working. I am very happy to get my diary ‘reborn’!!!
I never give up for this Deardiary, it is brilliant.
I have recently started using my rss feed reader in Firefox and the thing works great.
Glad you mentioned it to the group as I was thinking the same thing the other day!

I’ve been on Comcast.net for months and have never had a problem until you took the server down this last time. I’ve got my mail settings so that suspected SPAM goes into a folder that I can look at seperately and nothing is coming through there, either, from DD so I’m not sure that comcast is the problem. I’m going to go in to my diary and change the notify addy back to my old ISP just for giggles to see if it forwards. I’m aware that there can be security risks with RSS feeds so I’m not eager to jump on that bandwagon.
I’ll let you know if I get forwards from my old ISP. That might give you a clue one way or the other as to what’s going on.
Thanks for all your hard work. I know we can be a cranky and demanding bunch 😉

Steve,
Referring to my last comment: I just changed my e-mail and I’m getting notifies but I’m not sure why it took Comcast months to block them and why it coincided with your taking the server down this last time. I’ll bang my head against a brick wall and call Comcast next week because, as I’ve stated, the notifies should have gone to my SPAM folder not just been lost in space *rolls eyes*.
