Christmas Car-less And In Retrospective
Tue Dec 27 2005

Today I woke up and looked outside the windows – surprise! - the sun was shining over the lawn powdered with a bit of flour! No, I do not mean that our neighbours came stealthily under the cover of the night to spread their kitchen supplies over our garden, but it was a real snow-kind white thing! (well, still the tongue doesn’t turn to call it “snow”, but it came so very close to it) and the shining sun made the view wonderful – as if the mischievous wind took to pieces all the tinsel from the Christmas tree and spread it over the grass in some crazy game. If the thing won’t melt away until I’ll manage to get outside, I should see how many tiny snowmen I can scratch off the surface… One or two? Wanna start a bet? LOL ;-)

Talking about Christmas. We made it real holidays this year by choice and under compulsion. By choice because we choose not to have any particular plans for these days, but just devote them to sleeping, eating and other no less pleasant activities. And under compulsion it happened because I’ve been left with no car for Christmas break. That means – no shopping insanity and no travel anywhere even if we really wanted to. (The shopping bit is very important. Even if you don’t need anything, it is so contagious when everybody rushes over to sales, that you would join the crowd almost unwillingly. So not having a car helps a lot in a struggle for preserving one’s bank account in reasonable condition for the beginning of new year)
The story is a funny one, if I could laugh at myself, of course. On Friday my car just …stopped in the middle of the road. Literally. Stopped so totally, that the road rescue team has been called out to take the car to the garage. And I had to get to work (OMG!) by train! And before that had to “enjoy” standing on the road side, all alone, by my car, in waiting of the rescuer prince (who of course, turned out to be an old mechanical guy in the end (fairy tales do not happened in the middle of the stupid side roads, you know) And of course, you can’t possibly expect anyone to fix a car in a few hours left before the Christmas break, can you? So now my car is spending his nights somewhere else and I’ve become a Prisoner Of A House. Well, sure I could’ve go to the shop by public transport…but to tell you a “secret” – [~takes a deep breath and screams]: I hate shopping! And especially after Christmas sales. So all happened for the best for me...hmmm…methinks.

So, it is still a fine sunny day here (I can see it from my window) and if anyone needs a bit of that, I can pack&send it to you. but you probably need to hurry up with your requests, as the weather here is one of the most mean lady ever known – she changes her mind so often that makes the job of weather forecasters meaningless.
