Personal Preferences Of The Seasons
Wed Jul 19 2006

Somebody forgot to switch off the heater and the whole England is now suffocating from the mystical “The Heatwave”. This country is unique in the way how she can’t cope with not even extremes, but just “more then usual” measures of anything atmospheric-related. When it is snowfall, the country comes to stand still; when it is raining – we are getting all flooded and now it is the heat and look – they closed the schools for “health and safety” reasons! And the trains won't run because of the meltdown of railtracks. Literally. And we are talking of the temperature not above +36C (96F) …oh well…getting used to it now (not the temperature, but the way the Nature affects British public services).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s bearable, coz it’s not really. It’s humid and it’s sticky and it’s unbreathable. Yet it is within human survival limits. The weather conditions allowed us to get a little pressies – desktop fans for each. And now I’m enjoying close face-to-face with him promptly blowing deadly hot air into me and when I have to move around the office, like as to get me coffee, I only do so carrying My Little Proppellered Friend with me. (You can say I'm in love with him ;-))

It’s the time for more then decent amount of bare flesh, abandoned make ups, barefoot walking and good excuses for not doing any work. Surely more days like this and we will have no servers to support, as they all will melt away. I believe we will have to start to switch them off one by one if The Heatwave stays with us any longer. But there are thunderstorms on the way (at least in the forecasting horoscopes they are) so, whichever equipment manage to survive the heat, will be killed by the thunder. Something to look forward to…what a joyful times…and I’m even more then ever certain that I love Autumn more then any other non-autumn season. . .

War seems to be a fact of life among humans. I lost friends of my own generation in WWII. Then there was Korea. Next was Vietnam.

And battles and skirmishes in between.

My granddaughter asks "Why can't we just get along?" I wish I knew the answer.

    beautiful russian svetlana

the river theme again is beautiful also as a memorial where the rivers of the past and the present meet
and the eternal flame of the heart lies between the two
and the river is absolving and baptismal at the same time
I love the tall slender column reaching skyward also almost like showing the divine correct way for the future
but I am hooked by the realism of the afghanistan poster that illustrates beautifully the brutal clutch of war
I think ugliness in art can be beauty when it expresses the honesty of raw emotion of injustice

Re your smartypants comment about the "t" word: There is no way there's more than one baby in there. I am only having ONE more. That's it. That's all I signed up for.

You have my sympathy. We're in the triples now, and today is cloudy and muggy. I think most offices are airconditioned, and right now I wouldn't mind having a job. Your humidity is a lot higher than ours, so what would be a "comfortable" temperature here is "hot-hot" there.

I hope it cools down soon for both of us!

    Shalom

just returned for a bit more reflection on your post lovely lana

I do love to analyze art and I have to comment that I dont think canada would ever have an installation in the streets like this one on afghanistan exposing the raw brutality of war ofcourse we have the books and films that do this
    and we have peace monuments
and I think the reason why we wouldnt have that kind of installation is because canada barely has a history at all in comparison to russia and it is tamer we have not lived through the violence in the streets that russia has

if someone was taking votes I would agree with you that lenin is a part of history and his statue should remain
but I am looking at this from a canadian perspective I guess the mosque and lenin is a violent ideological clash and my country has never undergone this kind of clash

it seems kind of communistic to do away with the statue heehee just a fleeting thought I dont know if a figure represents cruelty and bloodshed for the masses then maybe they should stick it away in the back of some museum hee hee but I can only speculate because I havent experienced this kind of oppression

but it is culturally dangerous to try to bury history because that is where we evolve from and to understand ourselves we have to understand history

again I love your artistic presentation

have a beautiful day lovely russian svetlana

i look at that pic and numbers on it of soldiers and i am reminded that a family has lost a son, a father, a husband, a brother, and a friend. i read the news and the wars in iraq, afg, and now israel and lebanon refuse to cease and desist.i read my bible and it tells me its not gonna end because the times are at hand. i look around me and i see my family. half of the world population may not even be aware nor wary of these things. they go about their lives unaffected and won't give a damn. but as long as there are those who care for freedom and pray for continuous peace, even if it is sad and scary, we would find a solace to be safe and to survive.

(now would that answer earn me the next ms. universe title? lol. kidding.)

    :)
