Who would’ve thought that time would be gone so quick – I didn’t even manage to catch a glimpse of him, and now look – the summer’s gone! I wasn’t away and wasn’t hiding. I took a virtual vacation for a time. A short break to catch a breath that has been lost somewhere between the folds of reality. The summer hasn’t been relaxing for me at all. And when the time has finally slowed down, I found autumn standing on a doorstep. Funny thing – time, don‘t you think? He’s never there when we need him and when he’s found, we realise we lost him.
Anyway, back to reality. The in-laws have left. And I would not elaborate more on this topic. I will only say that three months is a LONG time indeed.
And hey, it’s September again! Do you know what this means? It means that the birds of passage have once again that epidemic urge to dart away…and so have I. The whole summer I was oh so patient, you couldn’t see a single muscle twitched when everybody fled to the lazy sands or other public destinations. And now it is finally My Time. There are certain advantages to have your holidays out of the mainstream. Being cheaper is the one. Being less crowded is another. Being able to go where your heart calls you is the most important. This year my heart has been rather incoherent in his callings and as a result I now will be racing from one place to another playing headless chicken. Well, at least there won’t be deficit of excitement, if only from dramatic change of scenery.
And so just to wet your (or my) appetite, I’ll mention where my heart and circumstances will take me this time. I’ll spend the first week in a “fruity” Saint-Nectaire – cute little town in the Auvergne region of France. The other week I am off to the land of myths and ancient Minoan Civilization– I will be visiting Greek island of Crete. I know it looks like a strange and not exactly straight forward route. But the dice rolled and the choice was made. And there was little I could do about it.
I doubt if I’ll have a chance to say anything more then that before I leave next Saturday. Might as well leave it all for the travelogues after. Watch this space.
