It’s All In The Myths
Mon Oct 15 2007

I don’t know if anybody else studied the Ancient History at school, but from my school years I remembered only the fairy-tale-ish myths of the Ancient Greece. Gods and Heroes, mysterious creatures, all too fascinating to learn historical lessons from, but on the other hand, they left more prominent trace in memory.

And if you’d ask me which myth was my favourite, I’d tell you – the Labyrinth. I won’t re-tell the old story, in brief there was a “Bad King”; he had a mystery beast and kept him in the underground labyrinth. And every year 7 young men and 7 young women were sacrificed to the monster. Until one of the young men killed the beast and lead everyone from the labyrinth with the help of the thread he’s been given by the Bad King’s daughter. Of course, there was much more romantics in the story, as she gave him the thread because she fell in love with him. But anyway, the reason I’m wasting time here telling myths instead of writing about my travels is that my second week of holidays I’ve spent wandering in the maze of discoveries that awaited for me on the Greek island of Crete – the exact place where that famous Minotaur Labyrinth has been found.

Guess, what my next travel tales will be called?
