It took about 40 minutes to read and, most importantly, understand, the manual of the router. It took less then one minute to punch one hole with it. Realities of Blond's life. I was making shelves in my newly refurbished pantry. I've noticed how the longer I'm occupied with this project, the harder the going gets. Amusingly enough, the tasks actually become easier with time. I've past the stage of self-educated plasterer, painter and decorator. Now it is more of the designer's playground than a demolition site. So I get to do things that brings you more satisfaction, as you can actually see the transformation almost immediately. Still, they have to be "done", not just "imagined&magiacally appeared". So I'm back to my secret stack of power tools. And unfortunately out of most of my energy by now. What a pity. The whole thing is dragging for so long, it's been 4 months now. And now when I can actually see the end, the end doesn't inspire me any more. Oh well, gues, I'm just tired, nothing more and nothing else.
Last week my new kitchen arrived and has been installed. It is nice to actually have a place where you can cook and eat in civilised manner. As opposed to using appliances stored in different corners of the house in a million and one boxes. The kitchen looks good. New and shiny. I would've post the before and after pictures, but there is no such thing as the perfect process and so my new kitchen was delivered with the door missing on one of the units and a bracket broken on another one. these will be re-delivered later this week. but it does look good. And most importantly, feels good too. I have to say, I was a little comprehensive about buying kitchen on my own. What if I'd choose the wrong color, the wrong size, the wrong features, etc...but everything turned to be the right. So I'm pleased with myself. Took a lot of effort, but the result was worth it.
I have two last big things to do before I can call it a day. I mean, sure, the renovation won't stop there, I have a brand new room and no furniture to go in it. But my bank account said it can wait. The majority is done now anyways, so I should be happy, singing and dancing. Except of I have no energy for such silly things like bunny hopping...I am just quietly pleased...I think...

- From:Yetzirah (Legacy)On:Tue Nov 20 2012My 'renovations' at my little rental house run along the lines of a new kitchen faucet and nice shelf paper! ;-) So I can imagine how overwhelming a big renovation must be! I will enjoy seeing your kitchen photos. The kitchen is the heart of the home don't you think? I'm glad you are nearing the end of your journey. Now you can focus on LIVING there!
