Your entry cards can now have a semi-transparent background as requested by, at least MissTick and possibly others too 😀
To set the background to semi-transparent, visit your diary settings and choose the Appearance tab (it's the default anyway). That will make the background slightly transparent - which if you've got a nice background image does look pretty good in dark mode I must admit. I don't think it works as well in light mode, but that's just me perhaps.
I've also tweaked the Entry Visibility box so if your diary is private you cannot select any visibility option except private. It's confusing otherwise because the diary has overall authority here and selecting a public or followers entry visibility will be ignored on private diaries. When followers only diaries come in sometime next week, the visibility dropdown will only allow private or followers only. In other words, an entry can never be more visible than the diary it's on.
This means if you have a private diary and you then make it public, all the existing entries will remain private unless you go back and manually edit them. Note though that this is only the case for new entries as it's a change to the way the entry itself is stored, which is not backward compatible.
Notify followers should also be 'disabled' if you're on a private diary.
You should also notice a [PRIVATE] label at the beginning if your diary is private. Previously this label was applied only to entries with a private or follower only visibility.
In other news, this is being posted on a new server with a whole new way of working behind the scenes. Hopefully nothing is busted, but it should make it more simple for me to deploy updates and keep track of stuff 😀 That's the theory anyway.
