Emails, reportedly from us
Mon May 13 2002

I've, rather interestingly, been receiving emails to [email protected] that claim to have come from [email protected]! Which leads me to the conclusion that the latest wonder worms from the minds of those intellectually challenged enough to have to resort to write VB Script email worms, are now faking the sender's details to be a random address from someone's address book.

If you receive an email from a deardiary.net that you didn't expect, and it contains an attachment, we recommend you put it in the bin and don't open it.

Hopefully one day someone will come up with a useable standard for ensuring the validity of a sender - this latest batch of worms shows just how vulnerable the internet is and you should trust NOTHING from an internet source.

Again, update your antivirus software (http://www.grisoft.com/) and don't open attachments unless you asked for someone to send them to you first!

Steve.

Heh, one time I got sent the Klez from someone, looked like it was from another friend of mine. After looking at the message headers, I noticed that the friend was actually someone else -- someone I didn't believe knew my other friend!

So the three of us became friends! What a story! The Klez virus unites three friends.

This may explain the problems I've been having with my computer the last two days. Thanks!

Oi vey. Thank you for this information. I thought someone had way too much time on their hands and was forging my (and other) email addresses. Well, someone still must have too much time on their hands to be comming up with this stuff.
