Unprecedented Disaster

Yesterdays system administration efforts were an unprecedented disaster and caused a significant unplanned downtime, for which we sincerely apologise.

It had been intended to move a couple of unrelated web sites from the server that runs DearDiary, to another server. However, for some odd reason, which is still as yet unknown, doing so caused the failure of the DearDiary server with some very strange effects.

No data was lost.

In the end, the system was restored by re-adding the other sites back to the DearDiary server... We will try again another day, with a bit better plan.

Apologies for the downtime.

    I just wanted to thank you for such an easy way to make a new diary for myself.
    I come here as an apparent refugee from freeopendiary.com which has had a downtime of more than a week, leaving me to fear that my diary, along with others, may have been lost and they are not quite ready to reveal that to us yet. However, I am a budding writer and NEED to write as often as possible, but I prefer to do it online as I find it much easier.
    I look forward to making many more entries in my diary and I thank you for this new beginning.
