Of Pulp and Taxes
Wed Feb 05 2003

Well, taxes are done, and thank goodness a refund is coming. It ALMOST makes it worth all the trouble. But I could have thought of a much more interesting way to spend the evening... :-)

Today it is sunny, and almost what you could call warm. It was such a nice day, I decided to make some hand made paper so I could start working on some gourds.
I use old paper and cattail fibers and other plant materials to make paper.
Then I decopage it onto gourds. It's all very crafty and earthy and creative, just the sort of thing I needed to do today. Robbie and Bob watched me slop water and paper pulp all over the patio. Cattail fibers were blowing around in the air until I got them safely in the water, there were puddles everywhere and I generally made a mess. It was great !

The whole time I was out there, the cat and the dog wanted to go in and out, in and out. They are not used to the weather being so nice and I think they were confused. Just like 2 year olds, running in and out of the house if you let them.

But the result is about 24 sheets of paper drying out on the sidewalk right now. Although the wind is trying real hard to blow them away. I am going to have to bring them in soon or end up chasing them down the street.

Now I have no more excuses. The gourds await.

You know it's been a good day, if you have made paper.

Wow, you made paper and you made it sound so easy. I've been thinking about trying this myself. ;-)
