Clear Green Sky
Mon May 05 2003

What if the sky turned emerald green? How long would we be distracted by it in it’s new garb? Can’t you just see huge white clouds with a deep green background? Would our skin look odd in reflected green light?

Would we have to re-write some songs?

“Green sky, smillin’ at me,
nothin’ but green skies do I see.”

Or:

“Beyond the green horizon, waits a beautiful day.”

And at baseball games the announcers (who think something AWFUL will happen if they don’t talk non-stop) will start the broadcast with:
“It’s a beautiful day here in Fenway Park, clear green sky with a gentle breeze. Perfect weather for this first game of the World Series.”

What would an impending storm look like with emerald green peeking out from behind angry dark gray clouds? . . . Like a sorcerer’s dream, that’s what.

How about the moon hanging in a pale green sky? A harvest moon, golden and huge.

Sunsets with blazing orange clouds on a green canvas. That would be amazing to see don’t you think?

I suppose the ocean would be green too. Green sky, green grass, green trees, green water…. Hmmm, maybe this green thing is not such a good idea after all.

We might end up with a bunch of people running around like the Queen in Alice in Wonderland, painting the trees blue or something, just to break up the monotony.

But still, I would like to see that one time. An emerald green sky.

Just for fun you know. Just for a day.

Green, huh? Purple, orange, red, yellow at sunset. Black at night (or almost black). Gray just before the dawn. It's already blue, so I guess green is the only color of speculation left. Might be interesting, but what color would the sun be? Lime green maybe?

Mmm, very interesting thought. I can see some of your suggestions very clearly, quite vivid, but I'm sure there's a really good reason that the sky is blue. ;-)

Ahhh, but how do you know that the sky is blue? What if the colour you thought was blue all your life was in actual fact green? WE have only other people's labels and eyes to vouch for the fact that it's blue, for instance I might see the sky as green (entirely plausible as I am colour blind) but you'd see it as blue...there that's something to keep you awake now isn't it?

Tee hee am running off to create more caffeine inspired mayhem elsewhere...to the Rachel mobile and away...
