Vinegar by any other name....
Fri Aug 01 2003

Well, my hens and chickens.....

Miracles DO happen. It is raining this evening. Yep, real rain. Not a downpour mind you, but enough that I had to turn on the windshield wipers to drive home from Kabbalah class.

I rolled down the windows during the last part of the drive when I go through the fields, and the air smelled of parched dry grass sprinkled with water. And mixed with it was the smell of a cousin to vinegar weed that grows here. It's one of the things that is still green even in the blast of summer heat and drouth. So can you imagine wet dry grass with vinegar poured on it?
Sounds gross when written, but smelled lovely blowing through my car just a little bit ago.

(There's no accounting for taste.)

Yes, yes. Whatever :-)

At this point, I would be happy if the rain smelled like old tennis shoes.
To me it means that God has NOT forgotten about us after all.

But to be honest, I always liked the smell of vinegar weed. And tar weed, and feverfew and any number of odd smelling flora I have run across.

But I digress, what I really want to say is.........

GOOD NIGHT!

Ahh, I think I know just the scent you mean. Delightful, when there hasn't been any rain for ages. ;-)

Harry is back at Hogwarts, with great fanfare.

We didn't get much rain here. Just enough to dampen the sidewalks. A downpour would be nice.
