Of Toadstools and Rose Petals
Wed Aug 13 2003

Don’t talk to me. I don’t want to hear it.

Just lead me to the giant bathtub filled with steamy water and exotic oils and rose petals floating in it, surrounded by amber colored candles. Then go away.

They made me shuffle papers all day long. Not pretty papers with meaningful words on them either, but cheap recycled paper with numbers (yecchh) and unintelligible technical whoozits all over. They blossomed like pale noxious toadstools in piles that surrounded me on every side. I didn’t feel like a human being until I found the surface of my desk at about 2:00, and was thankful to see it was a real desk and not some rotting corpse of the person who used to work at that spot, that got buried in papers and left to compost and sprout more paper. Maybe that IS what recycled paper is made of! Eeewwww!

Unbelievable.

Oh dear, I am whining. So sorry.

The good news is, dinner is over, the sun is going down, I am in my comfortable clothes and I am writing. Now all those things are good things. And hey, Friday is payday! That’s another good thing.

I haven’t really done anything “frivolous” with any of my earnings yet. I am going to have to conjure something up to treat myself to.

“A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men !” (from Willy Wonka) That’s what I need, a little nonsense. Hmmmm. Suggestions, I need suggestions.

What do YOU do when you want to indulge yourself?
I am not in the habit of needing that much indulgence, since I was at home indulging in all my favorite things all the time, I never felt the need. Now I do. And I haven't the faintest idea what to do about it!

How odd!

How strange!

Am I,

Deranged ?

(Don’t tempt us to answer that one cupcake…..)

I go for a drive. I let the car take me wherever it pleases.

Oh, yes, and I take a camera along. I've gotten some great pictures.

Works for me, but I don't know how you feel about driving--nowhere--just thataway!

    Shalom

oooh that giant bathtub sounds like indulgence to me! especially with the rose petals floating (I will have to try that one...)

i like to indulge in being free without anyone demanding anything and just doing WHAT I WANT for a few hours, unfortunately it doesn't happen very often...

For me there is only one answer when indulging: books, books and more books- oh and pretty furniture that I don't actually have room for but can't live without.

How about...a nice Leather-Bound Book? :-) Make a wish-list? Those are fun, even if 99% of the things on the list are things you know you'll never get. Chat to ya later...

A bit of nonsense? Buy some bubbles. I mean the kind you blow like kids play with. It's a great pick up and lots of fun. ;-)

A day at the ocean does it for me every time and it's basically free! To spend money on yourself as an indulgence-- go for those beautiful lusted after books!
