Thar' He Blows, in Black Fishnet Mateys
Sat Sep 13 2003

Even though I went to bed early and slept well, I’m tired.

I’m tired in the core of my body. It’s a feeling I get sometimes and I usually make an extra effort to take it easy on those days. But I can’t do that today.

It’s a funny feeling. It’s a place just above my stomach and behind my heart. In the very center of my torso. It’s the feeling you might think Atlas had while holding the world on his shoulders. Beyond trembling, to the weak place right before you have to let go of a heavy object. That’s me this morning.

In some ways I’m sure it’s not all physical. It’s mental, emotional, soul fatigue. I have that deficiency brought on by putting my introvert “out there” for too long. Poor thing’s toasted, dried out and crispy. I hope I’ll be able to revive the shriveled wee thing with balm stored up in the little desk in the cupboard. Soon. . . soon.

Later in the day:

One thing you DO NOT want to see at 8:00 in the morning is a man with a large belly dressed in a black fish net sleeveless shirt walking down the hall toward you. I could not believe my eyes. I think it was the line of hair from his belly button to his chest that really got me….
His wife was with him dressed in a normal manner. And I couldn’t help wondering how she let him out of the house with that thing on.
I find it hard to imagine him asking “How do I look?” without her pointing her finger toward the closet and telling him to put on some descent clothes. Or saying , “ I will not be seen in public with you dressed like that.”

Maybe he thought he looked studly.
He might have. . . . to a female water buffalo.

Humans. Who can understand them?

A question that has no answer.

But I think I'd want to throw up at the sight of what you described.

My word, it MUST be something they're sneaking into the water supply. Did you happen to notice if the wife had a dog with her by any chance?

Soon you will be at home and soothed with a lovely new couch. You can manage, you're half way there!

You made my tired soul laugh today. I will be smiling at that horrid vision of a gut all day.
    Thank you.
