NaNo Wolf in the Snow
Wed Nov 12 2003

Currently, I have this picture adorning my computer desktop:

[album 65561 Snow in Pines.jpg]

Isn't that a lovely?
I showed it to my husband and told him I really miss the snow.
(We hardly EVER get any here)
But I grew up with this stuff falling out of the sky from time to time...

Anyway, he said, "Sure you like it, because you don't have to go out in the pretty snow and work under some diesel belching truck."

Oh yeah.... he has a point there...

For some odd reason, I figure when it's snowing, everyone should just get on home, make hot chocolate and buttered toast, and stare out the windows at the snow show. Doesn't that seem right to you?

But since I am not going to get to see much of this stuff unless we get snowed in at my parent's house over Thanksgiving, I put this picture on the desktop to make me feel better.

Finished my word count first thing this morning. It took me two hours and now I am stuck having reached a point in the story where I need a small poem. Usually that is not a real hard thing for me, but this time, I am stumped. I did name a character though and it wasn't too painful. At least I can stop writing (NAME) for one more person in the story! At one point I got so disgusted with myself that I hadn't chosen a name I typed (NAME, you fool!) in the space. It didn't shame me into picking one though. I guess I am beyond shame right now. I am just trying to get the words in. I feel like there is a wolf snapping at my heals! The NaNo Wolf!

Well, the picture sure makes me feel better, it's sweltering here. Write a nonsense poem just to get it out of the way, or put it off and come back to it. You're doing great. ;-)

The picture is beautiful. I don't like being in snow, and that tall handsome guy you live with has a very good point.

I'm reminded of about 4 years ago, this very month, when I was visiting cousin in Hood River, OR. It started snowing in the mid-afternoon, and by the next morning there was 18 inches of snow. I have pictures.

Cousin said it was very unusual to have snow that early, and even more unusual to have that much snow.

But I'd just as soon be inside, and the hot chocolate sounds excellent.

That is a lovely picture. I was born in Michigan and though we moved when I was six, I have quite a few memories of playing in good true deep snow. The few flurries we get here in North Georgia usually have me standing outside looking upward watching it come down. I think it's beautiful, but I don't want to live in it either.

That's beautiful! I don't like DRIVING in the snow if I don't have to. Especially over either of the passes. I'm not very confident since I turned my car over a few years ago on top of the mountain. I love the looks of fresh, fallen snow but ABHOR the dirty, slushy, slippery AFTER snow fall. My, but I sound a touch intense don't I?
Have a wonderful time gazing at your snow covered trees. See ya, P~~~

That's a pretty picture. It gets like that here sometimes, but it never lasts. Usually it turns to slush within two or three days.

I personally like making up names, but most of them are too silly to use. I actually wanted to name Princess Teabags Larry or Elvis if she'd turned out to be a boy, but Mrs. Teabags wouldn't let me.

it is a beautiful picture, I wholeheartedly support the everything stops for snow and hot chocolate idea. Watch the word count go! I'd send you some Scottish snow if I could.
