Sweet Pea Heaven
Thu Mar 18 2004

Here is a little picture of the first sweet peas that bloomed in my yard. They are from a volunteer plant that has actually been growing slowly all winter long.

[album 65561 Sweet Pea 3 Resized.jpg]

I wish I could describe how these little beauties smell.

I can only make stabs at it with inadequate words.

Smelling them invokes these reactions:

Moist earth with green grass emerging from it.
Simple.
Sweet.
Delicate, but not to be ignored either.
Encourages enlightenment.
They smell pink.
(Has nothing to do with their color)
Spicy.
Makes me think there MUST be a Creator. :-)
Perfect.

I wish I could share their fragrance with you, but this is as close as I can get.

I encourage you to RUN don't walk to the nearest nursery and purchase some Sweet Pea seeds and poke them in an auspicious place at once, so that you can watch them grow and bloom and become aquainted with their perfection.

Yesterday would have been my mother's birthday. Sweet peas were one of her favorite flowers. I haven't seen a sweet pea forever, it seems. Thanks for posting that.

Yes ma'am, yes ma'am. I'll get mine in some dirt, pronto. I knew you had a picture from the title. I keep forgetting to buy potting soil! I have enough left over to get them started though, and I guess in a pinch I could use some african violet soil with perlite mixed into it.

    They are beautiful!!!

Sweet Peas and Heliotrope, my two favorite flowers. Aren't they heavenly? I'm going to try another one I've read about this year:

I've yet to find the corkscrew vine in any of my local nurseries, and www.countrysidegardens.com has been the only place I've found it online.

I will have sweet peas eventually. I know it's not time yet to see some green sprouts, but I keep looking every day. And morning glories too. It's hard to wait.

Did you wear green today? If not, I guess the green in your diary will have to suffice. I forgot to cook corned beef and cabbage.
    Take care....ME

You've already seen the web quiz I posted today on my diary. I took it off last night's post and reposted it this morning. Thanks for checking it out. There's a forum connected to that site, check it out if you like. A friend of mine runs it and would be happy for the input you told me. ;-)
