Are We Done Yet?
Mon Apr 05 2004

Well, kitchen is all done, and so am I.

Stick a fork in me.

Whew!

But you know, there is something very satisfying about knowing that the top of your refrigerator no longer has half an inch of grime squatting there, staking out a homesteader's claim.

I have been fortifying my resolve to finish the job by working for a certain amount of time and then calling some family member or another and having a nice chat for half an hour. They helped me make it through the day bless them.

There are other things I want to share, but I am just too tired to get it all straight at the moment. Perhaps tomorrow I will be more clear headed.

In the meantime, here is a picture of my latest gourd.

It is decoupaged with hand made paper, (that I made myself in this case) and real oak leaves from my parents place.

That is a beautiful gourd, what a great size too. I'm glad you got all those things done that you wanted to. It is satisfying. Right now I have a load of laundry calling to me, but I'm doing my best to ignore it. I'm bad, what can I say?

That's the one I saw you working on. Lovely! I like what you did with the opening.

I'm exhausted, but my kitchen is clean. And my back aches. I'm glad this happens once a year only!

    Shalom and Happy Pesach!

Wow it's pretty, can you use them to hold things like flowers because that has homey vase written all over. You could sell these you know.

RYC: Black pudding is (as I later found out) a blood and fat sausage. It tastes like a CAT TURD. I really can't think of any other way to describe it....

The pot is beautiful, by the way. You are definately talented

P.S. there was no fried bread with it, unfortunately. The traditional English fry up is really very very good, especially the mushrooms and tomatoes. Seems strange to have a fried red tomato with breakfast but it is a perfect compliment with the eggs and British bacon (which is more like a slice of ham than what we think of as bacon). The sausage is also different than what we have here and it took to the second trip before I really got the taste for it but once you do *rolls eyes*. As a matter of fact, my mouth is watering and I think that I will do something along those lines for dinner.

Well, well, well! I wondered what you and S. were doing with all the gourds you've been writing about! It didn't even occur to me that you were doing something other than painting them. I don't think I've ever seen a gourd look this good before.

    Gourd on!

    Love you, Parett
