Menopausal Mayhem
Fri May 07 2004

Take a deep breath, calm down. Sit down. Stop flitting. Put your feet on the floor in front of your chair. Sit up straight. Stop trying to think of reasons to jump out of the chair and run around the house.

(Too late, she just ran out on the front porch to move some plants she just bought around, because .... I don't know. Because they are THERE.)

Okay, good posture. Deep breath....

(Wup, there she goes. I hear the ice dispenser. She's getting water.)

Alrighty. Where was I ? I have so many projects hanging around waiting for me to get to them, I wonder why I haven't gotten any started lately?

(Beats me! )

I bit the bullet and bought a skein of Lion Brand "Homespun" yarn in multicolored blues that I have in mind to make a little purse of. I saw one in a gift shop not long ago that I just know I can make as it is basically just a rectangle of crocheting that you sew up and leave some free for a flap and put a button on it to keep it closed. I had to leave my knitting at my parents house because I could not carry any more stuff on the bus and I get fidgety in the evenings.

(No! I don't believe it!)

Boy are you snippy today? What's YOUR problem?
Anyway, I am hoping to get it started today. If I can settle down.

I keep hearing on the radio all about the ending of the Friends tv series tonight.
It reminds me of the fuss over who shot JR on Dallas all those years ago. I didn't know what all the fuss was about back then either. IT'S A TV SHOW, PEOPLE!.... it's not REAL!
Get over it!

Hey ho, I wrote another review for Weblog Review yesterday. It most likely won't get posted till tomorrow or the next day I think. It is so much fun! I don't know if I will be saying that after I have read 50 diaries, but so far it's fun.

(Whoa, there she goes...to make a phone call......shhhh, here she comes.....)

Okay, I'm back. Had to call C. to make sure she is coming to class tonight. It's our last Tanya class. With the exception of a few pages of commentary, we have completed a set of 5 books that took us about 4 and a half years to do. Tanya is a Chasidic work that discusses Kabbalistic concepts. Our Rabbi has done a wonderful job of teaching us and I learned a lot. The most important thing being, that I don't know much! (I came to the class thinking I was very knowledgable.) I found out very quickly I didn't know jack. It was good for me to discover this before I made a complete fool of myself!

So, we are having a little party to celebrate. I'm bringing grapes and meringue cookies.

(Looks like she is about to bolt again........
Yep, out to the back yard. God knows what she is doing out there.....)

Had to pull a few weeds. Where was I?

(Fantasy Island? Funny Farm? Group Therapy? )

Okay, listen, I think I have to go now. I have to put the tomato cages over the tomatoes, start my crochet project, maybe cut out some fabric to make a hooked rug placemat, figure out how to decorate the hat I am wearing to M & B's wedding, take some pictures of the magnificent hollyhocks blooming in the front yard, and plant the dianthus and marigolds and verbena I bought at Home Depot today. That is if I can settle down and START.

(Good Luck with that........)

(( I need a raise. This job is getting to me......))

Your diary expresses very much how I've felt this week. My doc assures me that even though I've had a hysterectomy I'll have no doubt in my mind when menopause starts.

Gee, maybe I'll be lucky and being uterusless will help it be easier?

    I can hope.

    Stop laughing.

It's a sign of the times when the television starts advertising "Menopause test" strips on sale at the pharmacy nearest you!

As for "Friends" ... I nearly got myself lynched today by asking at the table if "that whole "Friends" thing was over yet?" Turns out that a bunch of them had been planning a "Friends" wake tonight for during the finale. Intelligently enough, they failed to invite me.

Stop scaring me!! This is the second time that I've been able to relate to your menopause entry...and I'm not menopausal... What does that say about when I do get to that age in life? That is too scary a thought to entertain!!!!
