Let's Not Get Hung Up On Dates. OK?
Wed Jul 21 2004

I know it's not July 21st YET. At least not in my hemisphere, but I ran across something I wanted to share, and I personally prefer not to make multiple entries on the same day. Call me anal. I'm used to it!

Anyway, I ran across the link to this article about blogging that I thought might interest some of you. I'm not sure I agree 100% with her assesment of the situation. But some things I think she hits the nail on the head.

It is interesting to me, this blogging world we are in together. And I wonder about what makes the whole thing ... go ...

So here's one woman's opinion.

See what YOU think. :-)

I'm going to have to have a conversation with you about webblogs. Instruction, that is.

Thanks for sharing the link! I do think blogging is changing life on the net. Interesting thing for me has been my own life here at DD. when I started my journal, I just wanted to write. It never occurred to me that I'd meet people ''out there'' who would come to matter to me as much as family or friends I know face-to-face. We change the net. It changes us.

    Hugs,

sometimes it actually does scare me how much my blog does mean to me.

I too when I started writing just started to write as an outlet and an escape. I still don't think that my diary is particularly interesting and am amazed that people are interested enough to not only read but comment.

I am also amazed at the friends I have made on here, how I feel like I connect with them over the miles, how when they are having bad times I go through it too and when I need support I get it!

The most amazing thing to me though is the fact that it allows me to connect with people of a different age, older and younger and I think this gives me the benefit of insight to a whole load of issues.

RYQ C: No, I haven't had that experience. Should I? She has offered the use of her truck for moving stuff, but I haven't had the pleasure(?) of actually riding with her.

An interesting piece. I think I came here mostly to make new friends in new places, but there is more. In this great big world it is so easy to feel very insignificant. Sometimes I just want to be heard; I want my opinion taken into account.

One interesting tidbit was her statement that both private and public posts should be able to co-exist. It seems to me they do, right here on DD. Again we are ahead of the curve. :)

Great article! I've read all kinds of blogs, and I find the ones that are about a person's daily life (especially those with a keen sense of humor) are my favorites. I started as an egoist, but I find I like writing for my small circle of friends best. I'm happy to have 10 or 12 readers, not 10 or 12 thousand.

Thank you for the link it's a really interesting article it managed to touch on a lot of the stuff that I wondered about regarding blogs/journals etc.

I think Ani described my feelings best. I'm happy just to have a group of people I feel comfortable with and having a window into their worlds. I can't imagine what having 10,000 readers would be like the very image scares me!

I loved the article on blogging. I am definitely simply a 'diarist' and the type of communication I enjoy with my friends here is that it is like sharing emails with some intimate friends who to me are like family.

I liked what she had to say about it all, and it is so true that people write for so many different reasons in so many different styles. I am just so thankful for the opportunity to get to know good people such as you whom I would never get a chance to meet in 'real life'.

    Peace and love to you!

WhoWah! You know I didnt even know what a blog was until I met you! LOL

I still dont get how the whole thing really works half the time, or what the various phrases mean. I just like coming here to write and rant. I like to make friends and read those funny stories. It is entertainment at it's best. But it is also a place to dicover yourself, work out your problems with the support of friends. Get suggestions and give advice. 10,00 readers to entertain! no thanks. I would rather read about my mom pickling herself! LOL
