Cats In The Sky
Thu Sep 09 2004

Awake last night at 3 in the morning.

(What a surprise!)

I went outside to see what my back yard looks like at 3 in the morning.

And there in the eastern sky, surrounded by only the brightest of stars was a yellowish quarter moon, looking for all the world like the floating smile of the Cheshire Cat. I held my breath, waiting for the head and body and tail to appear, but I guess he was too sly to let me see him. The illusion remained however, that though we see black sky with tiny lights from our vantage point, in fact, the universe is ablaze with light and there is a curtain of black that protects us from being overwhelmed by it's glory.

It's not darkness sprinkled with light, but Light partially clothed in darkness.

One of these days.... that curtain will be pulled back. And we will never be the same.

The Cheshire Cat, The Man in the Moon, Sol, and Orion, Venus, Mars and Jupiter will dance before us unclothed. You just wait. One day it will happen.

You can thank me for letting you know ahead of time.

I'll be waiting . . . with the Cheshire Cat smile on my face.

I'd like to see the glory of the sky at 3 in the morning. Too many lights in this apartment complex to see very much but the very brightest stars.

I don't think I'll still be around when the Glory is revealed, but I look for it daily.

I love the moon. After 15 years of marriage, hubby and I just discovered that we both love the moon. I guess it's always been something we kept to ourselves... It's nice to know there's still some things to discover in our marriage.

it is a lovely time that you don't normally get to see - one benefit of the time you are going through (don't shoot me for that!)

I must try moon gazing whilst my hub snores - so much more positive than punching his shoulders.
Sorry you're having such bad nights. But thanks for all the great encouragement as I try to begin my journal.
