That Was The Week That Was
Sat Nov 06 2004

Where did this week go?

It's a good thing we have been recording some of our thoughts in blog form, otherwise we might think this week had never happened. Even though it was a momentous one, it still flew by awfully fast.

Donovan is crooning from the Windows Media Player. "Wear My Love Like Heaven"... now THAT was a long time ago.

Griffen is curled up in his own special little basket on my computer desk. He won't fit in it much longer. The little white fur ball is growing at an alarming rate. I am going to have to find him another one soon. He is a bit disgruntled because I just cleaned out his ears with hydrogen peroxide. Although for a cat, he tolerated the indignity quite well, all things considered. Being wrapped in a green towel with only his head sticking out did the trick.

He must not be too mad at me, he just moved to the empty spot in front of the keyboard near me. All is forgiven.

Last night wasTanya class. Although we have finished reading the Tanya proper, we are working on a slim volume of Chasidic teachings. Being in that class is like going to an island of sanity in a confusing world. The Rabbi reminds us why we are here, and helps me focus on what is RIGHT with the world. I feel blessed to sit at the table and listen to him. It is the heart of my week.

Now Johnny Mathis is singing "Misty". Shmaltzy? Sure. Do I care? Nope.

I am just a bundle of scintillating information today eh?

I think I'm emotionally worn out from the political excitement. Boy am I glad we don't have to go through this for another 4 years.

Shabbat approaches, I'm going to use the time to re-charge my batteries. :-)

I'm worn out too. Amazing how this week could seem so very long and yet I can't believe it is Friday already. Maybe I just need a nap.

Enjoy the quite, it was a nice cool 24 this morning here. Got my 6600KW generator yesterday but still have a wheel kit on the way. The battery was damaged but bless them a replacement is on the way all done without a hassle. So if all goes as planed we can have heat, water, and refridgerators when the lights go OUT.

Yes, our Rabbi is an exceptional person. His joy in infectious, his knowledge incredible. His level of faith (especially) and works is far beyond the likes of me.

And he has the humility to say "I don't know," when he doesn't. But he promises to look it up.

He denies being a tzaddik, but he's as close as makes no nevermind.

    Shabbat Shalom

hey mon amie i love no god therefore i love all gods i am always chasing the golden light of the sunrise the light of keter that surrounds and encompasses the brain the brain is always on fire with light in our mortal temple

so the commandments are pillars of the light of keter in any spiritual discipline it is always the light

613 garments of the soul i love that 613 commandments thats what the soul goes out strutting in beautiful but it is not the soul interesting thought

so the essence is not your action or the words but the light

hey mon amie thanks for this lesson i was just thinking about this the other day that quite some time ago you were going to lectures with the rabi and i thought hey i wish yetzirah would talk about it

please post again about the torah

so griffen is growing oh well maybe some day if he ever needs a second name you can consider phoebus which means brightness

griffen forgives you because he knows that clean ears

I'm a little behind, but thought I'd comment here...I'm crocheting again too. It must be the change of weather that draws me to it. I'm making a trendy little poncho...I've never attempted clothing of any sort.

Love to hear about your classes. I too find religious study a calming influence in my life.

    Thanks for your comments!

Something is in the air. We are all feeling it in one way or another. Perhaps it is relief. Perhaps it is a new found peace. Whatever it is, I am greatful for it.

Have lovely weekend my friend; re-charge and renew. :)

    Shalom

My daughter and I are getting kitties tomorrow, can't wait! We are getting two as I work full time and they can keep eachother company. Griffen sounds like such a sweetie!

Thanks for posting the 'Tanya' link! I've not been doing any reading aside from work related stuff, but I've been meaning to read up on religions and their teachings and I'm especially interested in Judaism.

Happy recharging! I was thinking about my cell phone - I need another battery so I can put that one in while my other one recharges so I've got a charged battery all the time. Too bad we can't have batteries like that for our bodies! Although I gotta say . . . I enjoy the recharging part, which of course for me includes bubble baths and candles. *smile* Enjoy!

    Have a great weekend,
    Calantha

survival of the fittest, et al. in relation to servanthood is in the sense that [i feel] there is a general notion that such behavior only belongs to a weaker group while those who are stronger feel they need not adopt such tude.

i am not sure if am making sense. lol. it's almost midnight here and am off to bed when i saw your comment. thanks for asking to be added.
