Second Night
Wed Dec 08 2004

It's latkes and applesauce tonight munchkins.... it's second night of Hannukah. And I wouldn't turn down a jelly donut either, if someone offered me one.

We put our menorah in the front window, so it can be seen from passersby in the street. I always try to get my favorite candles from a place called Coyote Found Candles They are wonderful candles. The best. What can I tell you? Mine were delivered just last week from the food co-op I still belong to, but only rarely order from now, since I moved away.

We are having a little company over for the occasion. We will light our menorahs together.

But in order for this event to be shared with maximum delight, I must clear away my clutter and clean up this place. You should SEE the pile of yarn on my work table. Tsk tsk. Disgraceful. I need to clean out a drawer for the stuff. But I have the yarn bug right now. I have already started another felted purse. This one, I am knitting with circular needles, the most carefree thing you can do in the needlework realm. You never turn your work, and all the stitches are the same..... knit knit knit! Very nice and calming.

The wind howls outside. It rains on and off. The few leaves that were on the sycamore, waving in the weather system? Blown to kingdom come. The tree is bare. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

Happy Hannukah!

Ah, but if we all lit together on the 8th night, the glow would light up the whole neighborhood.

    See you later.

    Shalom

Sounds all very cosy. I love using circular needles, too. You can just do 'mindless' knitting, as my mother calls it. ;-)

I wish I could be there to share the latkes. I'm not all that fond of cooking anymore, but for potato latkes I might try; yumm :)

By the way, yarn is not clutter. It is Yeshua's gift of creativity at work thru our hands.

    Happy Hannukah my friend.

    Happy Hannukah!

I have a circular needle bag making question... I get that you would end up with a tube. Do you just sew the bottom together? Or would you make a separate piece for the bottom so that it's hmmm gusseted????

I just finished a really cool crocheted purse. I made up the design myself woo hoo... and I thought it would be fun to knit my next one.

    Thanks!
