What's In YOUR Pocket?
Fri Feb 11 2005

In yesterday's comments, ichandra wants to know:

How can we feel important in this vastness? ( The Universe )

I was told by a Rabbi once, that we should carry two pieces of paper, one in each pocket. On one it should say: "The whole universe was created for me." and on the other, "I am but dust and ashes."

The trick is to know when to read which note!

But in truth, both statements are true.

Today's quote from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov:

"You are wherever your thoughts are.
Make sure your thoughts are where you want to be."

you are so sweet mon amie zirah
ichandra move into the spotlight gladly anytime hee hee
that quote by rabbi nachman is beautifully put
    its very empowering

the peices of paper does point to the dichotomy of existence we are one and we are the universe at the same time

catholocism goes on about this also dust you were and to dust you shall return but in keeping with the rabbi"s advice and substitute stardust for dust then we are exalted
is life really a word trick well we live in a land called thought

reluctantly ichandra moves away from the spotlight and posts

thankyou mon chere chere amie zirah

Let see when I got home I had mostly sawdust and other items of this and that. We got the Power line in and the workshop passed the County inspection . So we got lights and it was a very good feeling to help a friend wired for action .
One's mind can take him places he wants to be but getting there is is what Dreams are made of.

The good Rabbi had some very profound things to say didn't he?

What many fail to recognise is that in everything we have a choice. The situation may be upsetting, but we can choose not to react badly. We can choose to speak a kind word in the face of another's unkindness. We can choose a smile over a frown. We can choose to let go of anger and embrace forgiveness.

I often wonder just what the world would be like if more of us chose a better response to the unpleasant things that come our way. Maybe the fallout would be fewer unpleasant things.

RYN: Yes, the strawberry tea is flavored black tea. VERY good, not too sweet, not too strong but very definitely strawberry. I'm having another cup this morning and catch whispers of strawberry in the air. It's so good!
