Signs Of Spring
Sun Feb 20 2005

In the spirit of early Springtime inclinations in my neck of the woods, and in honor of all the throbbing green thumbs I have been reading about, I submit to you the following tokens of the season.

Griffen could not resist a sniff of his own, but was a little camera shy this morning. It threatens rain on and off, and the weather man promises thunder later in the day. That remains to be seen however.

I am officially employed, but have not been called in to work yet. I'm on the backup crew. I have never been quite so clueless about what my work is going to look like as I am right now. I guess I will have to learn to be light on my feet. I have a book bag packed with crossword puzzles, writing assignment from the writer's group, book, seed catalog, knitting project and several pens. I have heard these diversions will be needed.

Okay, off into the day. I think I feel a kool aid dying session coming on. . .

Now where's that yarn?

It's been sunny and in the 50's for the better part of the last 10 days and we also have many Spring-sign about us. My daff's are up and some are blooming, my Dutch Hyacinth are threatening to perfume the air any day now, and several tulips mistakenly think it is almost April. The lawn is also deluded and we've had to mow it twice already in the last 2 weeks.
On the flip side, my heliobore are still blooming like crazy, so they know it is still winter!
Boy do I want to get the garden in my new house started!!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Lovely! I needed the flower photo pick me up. My daffs are just struggling to the surface and I pray we don't get a burning freeze or snow but its so early yet *sigh*

I, too, have felt the need to bury my hands in the soil and reaquainte (sp) myself with the Earth. Another month and a half and it will be safe to pot some pansies. Due to climate, nothing else should go out until after Mother's Day. I am biding my time and trying not to look at seed catalogues with lust in my heart *winks*

Corgis are the best. Similar to a sheltie in just about everything except brushing. If you have a correct coated corgi, you vacuum a lot, but brush rarely if ever. Boo is completely self cleaning. The only reason I brush her is to shed out undercoat when she blows it. Me on the other had has a "glamour" coat, which requires more maintenance. It's longer, softer and needs washing. Not dirt proof like a correct coat.

Mister has 3 white socks. The hidden one is the same color as his coat (foot is black). It's not a great picture, and you can see how he prefers to put his weight on the forehand, when he is perfectly capable of "standing up straight". Requires Mom to gently poke him in the ribs, just like a teenager, LOL.

Those are gorgeous daffodils. I think we are showing some signs of spring up here. It's been warming up and the snow has been melting. Hopefully that last big snowfall we got was the last of it. I won't being having any daffodils coming up because the day I was going to plant mine so they would come up this spring it snowed so they never got planted. The first day that I'm able to get out and do some gardening I'm going to plant them and hopefully they will come up and I will be able to enjoy them. I guess we will see. Things that are suppose to come up in the spring normally don't come up here until around June.
