Spotted In The Garden Today
Fri Mar 25 2005

I know these don't look quite real, but take my word for it, they are.

I also don't know what kind of flower they are. They are volunteers from last year's wild flower mix I planted. They are eye catching that is for sure.

I tried to take a picture of the tiny peaches, but alas, it is a task too great for my basic digital camera. I will have to get out the really real camera to do them justice.

Words of wisdom from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov:

"Peace heals.
When your own world is fractured,
increase your knowledge of God.
It will spawn inner peace.

When the outside world is fractured,
promote the search for truth.
It will spawn universal peace."

They do look like a tobacco flower - how big are the blooms? They also remind me of some sort of mallow but that is a stretch. It's gorgeous, whatever it is! I'll get back to you soon, maybe with an answer. :o)

The verdict is in - Linum grandiflorum rubrum, more commonly known as scarlet flax. It gets my vote, look here:

    What do you think?

Pretty flowers. YOu never know what's going to come up when you plant seeds, especially wild flowers. And you never know what will come up next year.

    Gardening is an adventure.

    Shalom
