I have made it to the land of fresh air and pine cones.

I had a disappointing thing happen on the way up though…. My speakers in the car stopped working (I think there is a short somewhere in the wires)… so I was left to my own devices for about half the trip.

No tunes! No radio! Ahhhhhh!

I amused myself by making up improbable words to famous songs. It’s a good thing that there were no witnesses.

My hair looked even more alarmingly red/orange/plum this morning. And I spent a fair amount of time glancing at the color and trying to come up with a comparison… and decided it was a color not to be found in nature.

Though you could say it was sort of like Ronald MacDonald meets Raggedy Ann. Or sun dried tomatoes roasted on the Barbie. Or maybe Orangutan meets Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

In any case, something had to be done, so with my mother’s help, we followed the directions from the Clairol hotline people and toned it down with a dose of something called “medium ash brown”. I now have hair a color that someone MIGHT actually think was for real. Actually, I rather like it.

Whew! Saved!

I have a list of things to do and people to see in the next three days that is a mile long. At least I won't scare them to death now.

Wish me luck!

How lucky it was so easy to fix the color! Now, of course, you need to have someone take a picture of it so you can put it in here for all of us to see!

I wish I could have seen the original color. But I'm sure the toned-down color is nice. If you're happy.

I really think you ought to publish those improbable lyrics.

Ah yes... I dyed my hair once.... let's hope I don't go grey for a very long time because my heart can't take that whole dying process. It was kind of fun and exciting at the time, but a girl could cause an accident checking her hair in the mirror every 10 seconds.... and the roots... I have about an inch more to grow out. I don't allow myself to go down those aisles in the store anymore. LOL.

I'm glad I stuck to the #2 semi-permanents back when I was coloring my own hair. Even then the stress got to be too much, and I've ended up taking my case to a professional. It's worth the extra money just having the security of knowing I can sue if she turns me into Bozo the Clown.
