Oh I can't believe it.

I saw this guy on SNL singing this song.... and I thought, dang, he's pretty good. Shoot, I like this song.

Who is this dude?

Then I did something I hardly ever do. I waited till the song was over hoping to hear them tell me who it was.

Clay Aiken. Who the heck is Clay Aiken? I dunno.

Okay. Nice voice. Nice song. "Invisible".

Went to Amazon. Maybe I'll get a new CD eh?

Then I found out he was on American Idol.

So now I feel like a dope.

I despise American Idol. I don't like the stupid premise of the show. I don't like the abuse, I don't like the people on the panel of judges, I don't like the manipulation, I don't like the fake drama, I don't like the NAME of the show. I just don't like it.

But I had to admit I thought this guy was cute, and sang well, and I liked the song.

I'm trying to decide if I am going to hold the show against him or not.

Boy, it's a good thing that that show does not teeter on the brink of the shoulders of people like me. Call me crazy. Call me mean spirited. Call me old fashioned. But there is something just plain creepy about American Idol.

Or it could just be my current mood, which is more than mildly paranoid.

But dang, that boyo can sing...... :-)

I hate it when I get tangled up in my own biases. It's SO demeaning!

Now. . . . to buy or not to buy?
That is the question.

I should probably make this private so I don't get hate comments - we've never watched American Idol. I don't see the charm. In fact, tonight on the local news we muted the television while Bo was singing a song (which they played all the way through - hello? NEWS???) and changed the channel before they showed the whatever the girl's name is singing a song too. I'm sure they would have. Maybe you and I will be the only two souls in America on the Internet tonight. Or maybe we'll watch movies instead.

I agree... I despise American Idol too... And there is definitely something creepy about it :) Glad I'm not the only one despising that kind of shows, lol.

I like the idea of giving average americans a chance to become pop stars, but I don't like the corruption that comes along with a show like AI.

Clay was the runner up in the 2nd season. He almost didn't even make it into the final 10 but he was by far the best singer in the group. The 'winners' fans apparently clogged up the voting lines so Clay's fans couldn't get through.

You don't have to justify your music taste to anyone. Idol star or not, if you like the guy, buy the album. I would.

At 8 tonight on Fox, it is the final show for this season's American Idol. The two that have made it to tonight are without a doubt superior singers to anyone else this season, and many people from prior seasons. You might want to take a glance at it so you recognize their faces when they are on SNL!
Bo (the guy) sounds like John Fogerty and has a very bluesy rock sound, and Carrie (the girl) has a more country style and sounds like Winona Judd meets Martina McBride.
Oh, and Clay will most likely be on too as they usually have the previous winners and contestents there. While Clay did not win the year he went up (he came in 2nd) he has done better than the winner, Rueben, has done.

Go ahead and buy. At least you liked the guy apart from all the hype, etc. His talent got your attention. ;-)

    Just randomly passing through.

I do that too. I'll like a song until I find out it's by an American Idol-ite and then I can't believe I liked it.

What is it about that darn show that makes everyone like it? I never have. Who knows.

    Happy journaling,
