Hysterohmygoshectomy
Mon Jun 27 2005

I have started this entry three times. Erase. Start over. Erase. Start over.

I wonder just how candid to be. It's a constant balancing act is it not?

I will be brief and spare you gory details.

Been to the doctor. She says I can have a hysterectomy if I want one.

And I find that I am VERY reluctant to do such a drastic thing right this minute.

We agreed to a "wait and see" mode for the time being. And I can call "Time!" whenever I want. This I kind of like.

All I can say is:

"Be careful what you ask for.
You might just get it."

as ever, a very potent comment from the Little Red Hen.

I would feel very hesitant if I were you, it seems a very drastic move, however, yes you can call time whenever you like, so give it serious thought and find out all you can

If you decide on the hysterectomy, I told you I'd be there to hold your hand. And I'll be there for you during your convalescence.

It really isn't that big a deal any more. Truly.

I understand that giving up a very personal, intimate part of yourself is a fearful thing. But the hysterio- part of you has ended it's usefulness and is causing you great distress.

    Think about it.

    With love.

Well, I hope you don't need the op in the long run. I can't think of anything more invasive than an operation like that. ;-)

An online friend of mine from another site just had one last week. She said that even now, when she's in the discomfort stage of recovery, she feels *much* better than she did before the hysterectomy.

It must be a scary feeling, and not a decision to rush into. Take your time.

I agree with Pragmatist, it isn't such a big surgery anymore. That doesn't make it less frightening or BIG, but you know what I mean. I'll be holding your hand too, just from all the way over here.

Hopefully things won't get back enough that you have to have one.

I'll keep you in my prayers.
