Back Where I Belong
Wed Sep 28 2005

Ahhhhhhhh............

Laundry sloshes in the washing machine, overripe bananas wait to be made into bread, the bread bowl awaits the new sourdough starter I plan to make, and a kosher turkey breast will be put in the oven before the day is over.

Now THAT is what I'm talkin' about.

I had this great idea two days ago. I'm going to start a scrapbook. A personal history kind of book. I was going to start in the present and go forward, but changed my mind. I want to draw from all kinds of places to bring pictures, and stories and whatever strikes my fancy to add to the pages. I cannot afford to do the kind of scrapbooking that is popular now. The supplies are just a bit over my head. But I have photos, I have stories, I have magazine pictures, cards, notes, and other things I plan to add.

First I need to get the book. I have suggestions from a friend who is into scrapbooking. So I plan a foray to the store tomorrow maybe to procure my foundation.

I'll tell you where the idea started.

I was looking at this picture and realized the iconic quality of some images that capture a moment in our lives. Especially after taking a good look at my peeps bulletin board the other day and noting how it made me feel to look at it.... and then I added one more aspect. ... if I put down words to go with the pictures. Well, that would be a pretty cool thing to look at on a rainy day when I'm 90 years old what what? And maybe some of my grandchildren might like to look at it too.

(Oh how typical of her to load up some simple project with epic emotional expectations.... Will these risky psychological ventures never end?)

Good thing ( ) is not in charge eh?

Okay, off I go. Banana bread. Guess what? I'm going to put apple butter in the batter.... Don't tell!

They just called me to work anytime in the next 5 days. I told them no thank you, I have a lot of things going on. . . Of course I didn't mention the vast importance of keeping an eye on your new sourdough starter. . .

Thanks for keeping my place in line by the way...

AH yes a sign of age and mind !! when we dig around in our sandbox the hard part is keeping the time frame in line for we keep uncovering flash backs . Some are so strong it drains one . I have let my Journey take a NAP for rainy days and cold winter as it is Hard for a two finger typer and sad speller.

I feel so undomestic when I read you. Well, let's face it. I'm NOT domestic. Period.

But that banana bread and sourdough do sound good. And I have some over ripe bananas.

I'm trying to get in the mood for the High Holidays.

    Shalom

Love that picture. Who is that with you and Robbie?

    Where was it taken?

The scrapbook idea is a good one. I've had in mind to do separate ones for the kids. But as "organized" as I am, it probably won't get done unless I'm confined to bed.

My grandmother made a scrapbook for my dad years ago. Not a scrapbook by today's terms but a huge book with black pages and photo corners to hold everything in place. Full of newspaper clippings and old photos. People, places and things he never knew about. Your idea is a very good one and it will be treasured in years to come. Good luck and enjoy it!

It's a good thing () didn't notice the King George reference in there. You could have been in big trouble. ;o)

I think you've deserved these next few days. This entry was really relaxing to read, too. ;-)
