I have worked a lot this week. And as you can tell, I don't get much else done when that happens.

Today I spent 2 hours in a training meeting at our work offices. It was kind of fun and I met some people I don't ordinarily see. We went over some company policies in a rather fun and entertaining way, and I learned some stuff I didn't have a clue was part of the program okeeday?

As soon as the class was over, I headed out to Whole Foods Market to get a few little things I have been thinking about. I also left more than a few little things at the store because I was just gobsmacked at the prices.

A tin of tea for 10 dollars, a half pint jar of honey for 6.00. So I convinced myself instead to buy a little treat for after Shabbos supper, I strolled over to a stack of miniature fruit pies that would serve two people. Oh look! Cherry, now there's a nice thing to take home, how much is it? Huh? 5.99??? Surely you jest! I left it there. I also thought I might buy a loaf of challah so I would not have to bake it myself today since I'm kinda fried. No such luck. Not a challah in sight. And believe me, there was an absolute plethora of breads to choose from.

The one extravagance I did indulge in was a pint of salad dressing. The stuff is not kosher, so I didn't intend to eat it. But BOY did I want that bottle. It looks just like an old fashioned milk bottle. Pint sized. I saw it about a month ago while in that store with a friend. I passed on it then, thinking it was a ridiculous thing to do. But today, I decided I deserved to be indulged.

I brought it home, dumped the contents down the sink and will now have my bottle to use as I wish. When my mother reads this, she will I am sure, have some kind of conniption fit at the waste. But think of it this way, what if you found the most cunning little bottle that just made you feel all warm and cozy inside when you looked at it, and when you approached it to take a closer look, you discovered it was filled with cricket kneecaps or some other such absurdity. You might dump the contents and keep the bottle right?

Right?

In any case, I came home and got busy making challah, which is rising in the mixing bowl as I type this. I have also put together a pot of butternut squash soup that is simmering on the stove. Now if I only had cherries in the house I could whip up that little cherry pie. But even I have my limitations today.

Okay, so that's about it.

I'm so glad it's almost Shabbos!

Ok, I am going to step in for your mother *grabs you by the ear* How COULD you waste perfectly good salad dressing like that? There are starving children in Ethiopia who don't care if it isn't kosher!!!

    *prances off giggling madly*

Oh my goodness! Homemade challah?! Oh, YUMMMM!!

Yeah, I'm godsmacked by the prices at the whole foods markets, too. It's a gasper, just to walk through one of those.

    Hugs,
    Ani

PS Thanks for the comment on my diary, and about the graphics. They were actually the stickers I put on my handwritten page. I scanned them in and used the magnetic lasso in Photoshop Elements to isolate them. Maybe a little labor intensive, but I liked them so much it was worth it.

We don't have a Whole Foods Market near us so I'm saved the horrors of prices there. And if we had one I doubt I'd go any time soon. $10 for a tin of tea!!? I hope it was a big tin.

Given that I paid nearly three dollars for a bottle of WATER because the bottle was the perfect shape and the most beautiful shade of cobalt blue, I can hardly judge you on this one. :)

I can just imagine the most beautiful bottle that my imagination can conjure well then I would chant at it and hope that a genie came out if not I would use it as an exotic vase
marvelous idea c.c.(short for cup cake) if you like the bottle enough go for it even if your liking is without the content

    Catching up here...

You know the nickname for Whole Foods is Whole Paycheck, right? There is a reason for this, and you've found it! They sure do have nice stores, though!
