Well, here I am in the wild and wooly mountains. As proof, I submit this evidence:

We were not expecting snow at all though I might have had a clue last night. I was groping around in the living room in the dark looking for my glasses on the window seat and looked out the window to see the bright moon pretty high in the sky. There were thin high clouds scudding by and the moon had a rainbow around it. But this one was very strange. Because of the clouds, it looked just like an eye with the moon as the pupil. The inner part was pale yellow and large, but then around the edges it turned orange, then red, green blue and purple. It was astonishing looking. And it kept changing because of the clouds moving. Some thicker whisps would move into the iris part of the "eye" and looked just like a real eye with all those variations we have in them.... It was kinda spooky and awsome. And with my hindsight, I now know the "eye" was telling me, "Hey, look, in the morning there's going to be snow on the ground okay?"
I just went out in that snow and fed the stray cats, deer and the birds and shoveled snow off the front walkway. Everything is dripping.
I am "home alone" here as my parents are back east visiting relatives. I will be on my own for a least two more days. I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere today, though I am sorely tempted to get into the car and head out to Johnson Falls for a tramp through the snow. Maybe tomorrow.
I want to make some comments on Narnia, but I think I will ruminate on it a while before writing. It was wonderful. But I want to take some time to think about WHY it was wonderful.
So, off I go to rustle up some hot chocolate and do some knitting.
I might even take two or three naps today.
Oh by the way, after the cats had eaten their fill, somebody's dog came by and cleaned up the leftovers. He is a nice black and brown and white Australian Shepherd. Stub tail and fun. I went out on the porch to see what the thumping noises were and there he was wriggling and fawning, and trying his best to get me to come out and play in the snow. He was cute. I'll see if I can get a picture of him next time he comes by.
Okay, hot chocolate.........

- From:Allimom (Legacy)On:Sun Dec 18 2005I have decided (at least for today) that any future dogs will be adult dogs adopted from whatever local agency. No more puppies for me. At least until I see their cute wriggling little bodies begging to play and be taken home...

- From:InStitches (Legacy)On:Mon Dec 19 2005We are hoping to go see Narnia during Christmas break. I've never read the book, but Matthew just finished reading it in eager anticipation of the movie. I must say the promos have me wanting to see it too.
Enjoy the solitude of your mountain retreat and say hello from me to the "parental units" when they return. :) - From:Bookworm (Legacy)On:Mon Dec 19 2005The moon and night sky sounded so awesome. In answer to your question; stroppy, according to my dictionary means bad-tempered, awkward to deal with. I use it for when someone is being pretty unreasonable and in a bad mood. Hope that helps. ;-)
