Soggy Home California
Mon Dec 26 2005

Here we are, home at last.

That was a busy week.

We ended up with Hub Man's daughter and three little girls and his mom and a boyfriend and his two boys in a two bedroom chalet. We were wall to wall, but had fun anyway. It rained pretty much the whole time, so when the kids DID go out (which they had to for sanity's sake) there were a lot of wet boots and clothes and hair and lost toys that had to be located later. We watched the new version of Willy Wonka and I decided to stop comparing it to the older one (Gene Wilder is fabulous, sigh). Anyway, I began to think that this one had certain charms of its own that I quite liked. So now I have two favorite chocolate factories.

We drove home yesterday in two cars. I was by myself. It rained like a son of a gun most of the way home. The last hour and a half was a bit much. But we made it, though my car is soggy. I seem to have some kind of leak somewhere and water is collecting on the floor in front of the right rear seat.

Right now, the sun is out and I have all the car doors and even the trunk open to dry it out (I hope).

Hub Man is off skydiving, but when he gets home we are going to go see Narnia together. (He hasn't been yet). Woo Hoo! I get to see it again!

In the meantime, I am putting things away that are strewn ALL over the house. And I went outside to feed the birds and my lawn is like a soaked sponge. The rain gauge was full, at 5 inches. I dumped it out. Geeze.
Hey, come to think of it, this would be a good time to go walk down by the creek. I bet it's full. Might catch a glimpse of the great horned owls too. Hmmm. Might have to put that on the agenda.

I lit the first Hannukah lights last night. I found three candles from last year but today I HAVE to find some more! They looked wonderful in the window.
I will try to take a picture of them on the eighth day. I left my digital camera cord at my parent's house, so I won't be able to put pictures on till I get that in the mail. I always manage to leave SOMETHING behind.

But in any case I am....

HAPPY to be home.

Glad you're home safe and sound! On the car front, do you have a dehumidifier? If you do you're better off putting the car in the garage, putting the dehu in the car and rolling up the windows (stuff towels around the cord coming out the window). That will get it drier than leaving it out.

    Hugs

    Happy Hannukah! and Welcome Home!

Glad you have a good time!

I am looking forward to seeing Narnia too . . . sometime soon. It's a favorite story of mine. As I wrote before I don't think anyone will ever outdo the Gene Wilder chocolate factory but yes, the new one was interesting in its own ways too. Both good.

Glad you made it home safe even though you did get a bit soggy.

You are not alone in leaving SOMETHING behind. In my tidying up the last two days I have discovered a tea ball, a tin of mulling spices, a picnic basket and two Christmas presents that were left behing by various family members. Hmmmmm, I wonder if my sister will miss the picnic basket? It's a beauty. :)
