What Else Am I Missing?
Tue Jun 06 2006

I was wandering through Amazon yesterday and ran across this guy....

David Gray

I had never heard of him before. I listened to the song clip "Nos Da Cariad" and fell in love with it. Anybody know this guy? Why am I so clueless in the music department?

Seems like all the radio stations around here are oldies (which is cool) or rap. I never hear just new releases or anything. All the stations are so specialized. It's depressing. And because of that, I miss out on finding music like this. I'm so far behind the curve that I've been living in flatline world.

Dang.

So in the meantime, I have to content myself with setting the windows media player to loop this clip.

I'm pathetic.

I haven't heard of David Gray either, but I KNOW I am clueless in the music department.

RYC: Yes. We have rain. Or we had rain while we were driving for forty hours. And we have rain for our visit. Hurrah! And probably rain most of the way home. Except for our home state, of course, which has been dry and 90 degrees all week, and will be for aaaaaages. Oh yes, lovely rain. Ahem.

But yeah, even holiday rain is enjoyable when it is the only rain one has seen for a while.

I must join the ranks of the clueless, also. I haven't heard of him either. Oh, the sheltered life I lead. :o)

It's the same around here. There are no stations that play a mix of new released so I tend to avoid everything but the classic rock station *sigh*

cupcake you are not pathetic you have arrived where I have recently arrived hee hee and I am never pathetic just arrogant

    hee hee
anyway I pride myself in loving all kinds of music but the other day as I was browsing through the library I thought there is so much musical history here connected with so many countries peices that I will never hear on the radio
and so I charged out sibelius from fifteenth century finland that delved into mythology to write his composition
then the week after being fined for overdue material I charged out a cd on the irish harp the very first harp music played in ireland before the downfall of harp music

anyway from time to time this is going to be a beautiful musical experience for me

you know I could write down the composers date and a bit of history so that it isnt all forgotten but will remembering the name and keeping it as an active source of knowledge well does that increase the beauty of the experience

    love you
and thankyou to Little Red as my blogging week comes to an end
see you july 1st week next

I would like to present Little Red with the golden beak award for peace hee hee

I tried to listen, but my speaker wasn't cooperating. The light goes on showing that it's operating, but there's no sound.

I just heard the Dixie Chicks awhile back. They were the sound track for a program I was watching. Now I want to get a CD by them. And that's a laugh, considering I've always been a classical and Big Band person.

But I'm willing to be re-educated.

    Shalom

It's great when you make a music discovery of your own, don't you think. ;-)
