This and That
Fri Aug 04 2006

There is a pleasant breeze blowing today, and though it is warm, it is not anywhere near hot.

I'm picking cherry tomatoes like crazy and cannot keep up with them. I just trotted a big bag of them to my neighbor who was as happy to have them as I was to be rid of them. She is hosting a bridal shower tomorrow and will put them out for the luncheon.

I am in a furniture moving frenzy these last couple of weeks. I don't know what has gotten into me. Just today I had the brainy idea to find a way to put a window seat in my kitchen. I just spent some time pouring over the IKEA catalog, looking for some likely things to put there. I'm on a quest. If I was not afraid of the table saw, I would make my own. But as it is, I will have to cobble something together. And true to my nature, the less money I spend, the happier I'll be.

I went for the first time last night to a meeting of the local knitting guild. It was a total hoot. There were about 40? (I should have counted) people there. All women, with one exception. An older man who was a regular. He was working on a knitted lace tablecloth on circular needles. He was from Australia.

Anyway, everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. Each one shared what they were working on or had finished since the last month's meeting. I was in awe. Women were helping each other with their projects, and tricks of the trade were flying all over the place. I was just loving it.

The membership is only 15 dollars a year, so next meeting I am joining. I will start looking for a good cardigan pattern and throw myself on the mercy of the group to find a mentor to help me learn to read those patterns! Ack! They intimidate me to no end.

They also have four different charity knitting divisions to get involved in, so I am reading to dive into that also. It was a great boost to be with all these people of like interest. They even have one learning class a month, and they are planning a field trip to see some famous knitter give a seminar next month. I may not join that particular trip, but I would love to do that kind of thing with other people. Something I would never do alone, but in a group, heck yeah!

Anyhoo.... that's the latest.

Is anyone else not getting notifies????

Or is it just me?

Nope, I'm not getting notifies, either *sigh*

My mom used to knit with circular needles and that looked relatively impossible to me who couldn't knit with two straight ones.

    Enjoy your weekend!

I seem to be getting notifies sporatically. I got this one, but haven't gotten any others from you since before "the big outage".

Good idea on the chocolate syrup, I gotta get me some of that!

After reading your entry, it inspired me to finish the blanket I've been crocheting for my nephew for what seems like forever. The weather got warm, and it got too uncomfortable to have that big heavy thing on my lap heating me up. I'll crank up the AC, keep a big bowl of ice cream nearby to keep me cool, and crochet my little heart out!

I got this one but am heading off to see what else I might have missed.

I'm jealous of your knitting guild, amazingly so. Can you help me with cardigans when you learn how to do it? ;o)

This is the first notify I've had from you in about three days. I received two or three others buts that's all. I was able to put something in my own diary but you're the only one who commented. Thank you, by the way.

I was really looking forward to an entry from you these last few days because I finally had the time to finish your novel and wanted to comment on it. I don't know what you have planned for it but I really hope you try to get it published. If you don't I feel it would be a great waste.

There was a lot of symbolism in it for me and of course it brought to mind these end times(or beginning times) that we are all experiencing.

I loved the story and hope you write a sequel.

    Lov you.....Parett

The knitting thing sounds very fun!

I'm glad it's not so hot anymore. We have had a heat wave here ourselves coupled with high humidity - miserable! Now it is cooling off again at night and daytime temps are at least livable. Much better!

I just love tomatoes fresh out of the garden, especially cherry tomatoes. Yum! And yes, they do produce!

    Have a great weekend.

My mum goes to her local knitter's thingo, too. Most of mum's knitting is for charity or, as she puts it, for love. I hope you enjoy hanging out with other knitters. ;-)

Guilds are wonderful; I joined our local quilt guild two years ago. Our meetings are always fun and informative. I look forward to them each month. Hope you find as much enjoyment in yours.

I am getting notifies again.... now I am trying to get caught up. :)
