A Little Light
Fri Sep 08 2006

As I look out over my kitchen sink, this is what I see. My little garden angel that was given to me by my friend D. Sometimes it's the little things that capture your imagination. This was the little thing for me this morning... early, long before the sun had come up.

Shouldn't your garden angel be out in your garden?

Some people have a knack for giving "just the right thing."

For years we had a little "house" made of shingles which held a six-inch statue of Saint Francis. It was given to my grandmother by my son's godmother's daughter (did ya get that relationship?) after the godmother died. (She and Nana had been friends for decades.)

Saint Francis' little house was wired to the fence where we now grow our tomatoes. He would overlook the yard, but when the yard fell into disaray he would turn his back on the yard and face the back of his house. When the yard would again be properly taken care of, he would turn back around and face the yard again. Nobody ever moved him, after turning him around to face the unkempt yard the first time. He was turned with his back to the yard again within a week.

Mom took him when she moved, of course. I haven't seen him since. :-(

Gee, thanks for the green egg warning. Does this mean I can get out of the golf tourney????? I should just let R run it and show up just for the margaritas! Then when I bonk my head I'll have a better excuse than a sneeze!

My first thought was oh, how pretty....my second thought.....she gets up before the sun; is she crazy? lol

Honestly though...candle light in the morning; what a peaceful way to start the day.

What a beautiful, evocative, scene. Thank you for it.

And thanks for the book recommendations, too. My daughter and I are hitting Powell's tomorrow, so I'll put those two on my list!

    Hugs,
    Ani

    Simply beautiful.
I have one of those angels holding a child. The pastor of the church where our preschool is gave me one for Christmas.
