Those are the cutest socks I have ever seen. I would definately wear them out in public, if I had a pair just exactly the same. Hint. Hint. :o)

Wow! When you said you were knitting socks I had no idea they were such beautiful, colorful ones! They're great! I'd wear them as slippers myself. Great job!

Your socks are great! I'd wear them, with Birkenstocks, no less!

As for your "hero," he is absolutely correct! Of course, by now you know my stance on the mass insanity that is Islam.

I'd like to wish you and Hubman a good and sweet Rosh Hashanah, as well as shabbat shalom.

    Hugs

Heck, Yetz, those are so cool even I would wear them in public! ;) They look really soft, too.

And for once (shock!), I agree with your hero. I'll go one step further and include ALL zealots, including atheist ones. Virulent and murderous hatred of someone, or an entire population, because they choose to worship differently is, to me, the epitome of ignorance and barbarism.

Yep, he hit the nail right squarely on the head.

I was outraged at the various media demanding that the pope apologize. In the first place, he was quoting, and in the second place even if he wasn't quoting, he would have been making an observation of the facts.

And while the pope didn't exactly apologize, I fault him, as a world religious leader, for even responding to the Muslim's reaction. They proved the point of the quote. And that's what he should have pointed out.

    Shalom

Wear them.....they're cute and besides think of the fun you'll have.

Krauthammer's piece is brilliant. I only wish the Pope and other world leaders would stop backing down. The ONLY way to deal with a bully is to punch him in the nose...hard. Backing down...showing fear only emboldens them to do greater evil.

I like your socks! In fact, I like your socks so much, that I would wear them in public with Birkenstock sandals (except that would be hurtful to the socks).

in answer to the link you have set up-
I am going to explore this fully in one of my journals but here is a few words

I dont agree with the violent retaliation against the popes speech but that doesnt make the popes words any less wrong
if there was a terrorism of words the pope would be a terrorist

In a time when the world has to be careful not to stereotype arabs the popes words helped to spread hatred
ofcourse the arabs have had military aggression directed towards them and when they strike back it is called terrorism but that is another issue well to a point everything is related

I have made my pilgrimmage to rome and I was brought up in a very strict catholic familly and although I reject traditional beliefs I still worship in catholic cathedrals but I thoroughly denounce the pope for this

Islam is agreat world religion like christianity and judaism bhudism it preaches charity to others and it is not to be condemned for a radical few

for the pope to denounce mohammed in these inflammatory times means the spread of hatred

I have a copy of the popes speech he doesnt even quote the bible he quotes a byzantine emperor Manuel11 paleologus in 1391
he brings his words into modern time and defames the prophet mohammed the pope the joke says
"show me just what mohammed brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman..."

now the rest of the above quote says that his command was spread by the sword

there were many religious wars in mideaval times not only by islam but other religions

now the pope the pathetic jester goes on to quote this mideaval emperor

"God is notpleased by blood and not acting reasonably is contrary to god's nature..."

now beneath the pompous academic veneer of the popes speech is an argument filled with holes and drivels

the pope says he believes in reason and faith mingling and I agree with that but the popes reasoning is unreasonable

you can turn to the bible and quote the bible and find that the biblical god himself spreads the words of violence

so to quote the emperor by saying the biblicalgods nature is not violent is wrong

now modern christianity does not want to perpetrate violence it seeks to be positive and loving nevertheless if you wish to quote mideavel texts think of these words of violence from the lord

in the book of jeremiah 6- the lord says
"They scorn the word of the lord. They dont want to listen at all. So now I am filled with the Lord's fury. I will pour out my fury against Jerusalem, even on children playing in the streets. Their homes will be turned over to their enemiesand so will their fields and wives.
For I will punish the people of this land ,says the lord."

again, I dont agree with the violent retaliation of Islam by a small radical minority but that does not make the words of the pope right he is spreading hatred

the pope isnt just anyone talking he is a spiritual leader of the planet everyone looks to him for words of peace
in fact he has stated himself that one of his missions is to bring all world religions together

everyone denounces islam for this kind of reataliation and I dont agree with it either however I think we should look at what the media is allowed to do
it should not be allowed to spread hatred
a religion is a way that people exalt themselves it gives them support and divine strength to face the struggles of life
and to defame it publicly this way is an act of violence whether the religion is islam or any other
    in the name of freedom
thankyou my friend for this opportunity to express myself

just a bit more to add well actually it would require many more actually an infinite number of windows ha ha
    but just this to clarify

when I said that the media should not be allowed to spread hatred I question laws that condone the publication of materials like these cartoons that defame and ridicule the spiritual heart of humanity

ok. so freedom of press what about freedom of worship in a tolerant world especially with reference to a race that is struggling against prejudice

it all depends on where you want to draw the line and I feel that we should rethink our boundaries

    have a beautiful day
