RYC: nicotine is terrible to get out of anything. Every couple of weeks I have to wash my bathroom ceiling due to nicotine bleed-through from the former owner. I haven't primed and painted it because we're moving the bath across the hall but it just grosses me out! It looks like amber beads hanging from the ceiling when I get out of the shower even with the fart fan on *sigh*

RYN: I couldn't do lace either, once, but now I manage fairly well. So maybe you're not ready for the sock yet but there is absolutely NO REASON to think you wouldn't ever be able to do it. Give it a little while and then go for it. Forget you're making a sock and try the pattern. I think you can do it. Honest.
