Work continues apace on a pair of socks for Pragmatist.
Here is a shot taken of the work table as I left it a few minutes ago....

They are coming along nicely if I do say so myself. Though I admit to taking my time with them, because I am a bit filled with trepidation at what is waiting in the wings. Not to mention some serious sticker shock at the yarn store the other day while buying supplies for this project:

This yarn is much thinner and the pattern new to me. I don't intend to make the stripes. I think that part will be solid lilac instead. I WANTED to get some heather or tweedy yarn for that section, but the yarn shop didn't have what I had in mind. I am sure that there is enough yarn there for two pairs of socks, and I had to buy four sets of new size needles, thus the sticker shock part of this story. As I walked out of the shop the other day, I said aloud to myself.... "I don't think I can afford this hobby." We'll see what I say when and if I can manage to produce this pair of socks.
The pattern is from a book called "Knit Socks!" by Betsy Lee McCarthy.
These new socks and the learning curve that goes with them is another step along the way to my personal knitting holy grail... A cardigan made with the handspun wool.
Tonight is the knitting guild meeting. At least I'll have some socks to show and tell with. Everything else I have made lately has gone away in the mail!
Okay, back to the needles.....
