Knit Like You Mean It
Wed Oct 31 2007

My knitting saga will be on hold for a few days as I don't have time to dither about knitting styles. I need to crank out a few more felted bags to sell at the craft fair on Sunday. I started one last night, and hope to finish it tonight. They are smallish ones. I promise to take a group shot of them before we take them to market.

Always one to be prepared ahead of time.....ha! I just got back from Costco with two bags of candy for the wandering hordes we expect tonight.

I now have a VAT of candy sitting atop a tall stool by the front door.

I will try to do a rough count of how many kids we get this year.

Years past, we have had over 100.

That's a lotta kids.

Sunny and I are feeling the lack of Sandy pretty hard today for some reason. I thought of her when I poured candy onto the carpet [to pick out the tootsie rolls]. This is something we never could have done with her around! Sunny lay down politely near the pile and waited for a couple of stray Nerds as her treat. Sandy would have had those candies all over the house in about five minutes.

That would have been fun.

Sigh.

Oh, dear, what bad luck we had :-) No trick or treaters, and I'd bought a *lot* of chocolate. We'll just have to eat it all ourselves. :-)

You don't pass out Tootsie Rolls? Well! So I won't bother coming around.

Don't expect anyone trick or treatin' at my door. Haven't had any in the 11 years I've been there. So I'll just turn off the light and watch scary TV.

Missing Sandy, are we? You need to get another foster kid, but you'll probably never get another Sandy. Cute kid, she was.

    Bless

We are rather off the beaten path so Halloween is always very quiet. I think the grand kids came by once about 5 years ago. They are happier in town where there is a house every twenty feet and enough candy to keep the world on a sugar high for a week.

We're celebrating with an outing to the grocery store. Do we know how to party or what?

It's hard being a foster Mom and dog and having to say good-bye.
Sunny will perk up as soon as a new one comes along. I suspect you will, too. :o)
    Happy Halloween!

RYC: That's weird - other people have commented on it (via my LiveJournal), so it must be showing up for them.

Maybe try clearing your cache and refreshing? (Standard helpdesk answer #57 :-) )

I will (probably) always ever do toe-up socks. I'm a coward about joining the toes, plus I love being able to try them on as I go. Makes life a lot easier.

Check out this pattern - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wendys-fingering-weight-toe-up-socks-with-gusset-heel

I use the basic formula over and over again, her toe and gusset heel, just change out the patterned foot and leg. Probably not technically correct but it works very well for me. I can do it now without thinking so much. Yay for not thinking!
