Back Seat Of Faith
Mon Apr 07 2008

I just want it known for the record, that I am a person of remarkable faith and intestinal fortitude.

Well this could also be interpreted as remarkable something else, but we are going to go with faith for now...

Today I piled myself and my knitting into the back seat of a car and drove about , I dunno 75 miles or something with an 84 year old woman driving, accompanied by an 80 year old co-pilot in the passenger seat next to her.

Don't mess with my mother's family. We kick butt in the 'active old age' catagory.

We made this journey to visit my aunt and uncle.

[They are even older than the dynamic duo who were in the front seat.]

They made me drive home though.

So the whipper snapper came in handy at the end of the day.

Thank goodness I'm good for something once in a while.

I'm sure that Lil Red would be quite proud of you and your usefulness ;)

P.S. since you seem to have an "in" with the old folks, can you ask them to just stick to the Sunday driving????? *faints dead away with visions of car butts dancing in my head*

    Hugs

My father-in-law cheerfully drove 400 miles (I just did the conversion from km) in a recent weekend, to visit friends and family. And at Christmas time he wanted a Christmas cake, but m-i-l wasn't feeling up to making one. So he decided to bake a cake for the first time in his life - and it turned out pretty good!

He turned 88 this year! He's a wonder.

For Shame on me as I near that 80 mark and never butted anyone ever. However been butted by a young lady just a couple months ago . Seems they just can't drive without a cell phone in thier ear and always in a hurry. There does come a time as we age that reflexs slow but you will never find me with a phone in my ear or driving impaired for I value life of others as well as mine. Dang it will soon be too expensive for a Sunday drive anway.

From where to where, and did you get any knitting done?

Having met your pilot I have to say I quite agree! :)

I'm glad they allowed you to be useful though. Whipper snappers ought to be good for something more than back seat driving after all.

So, was it worth toting the knitting or was it just for show?
