The Lists Of Spring
Mon May 05 2008

This has been a Spring of oddball projects. The little things you think of in the dead of winter and jot down on a mental list. Sounds innocent enough, but then the good weather actually arrives and out comes the list and you discover it is about half a mile long.

I've been whittling my way through that list and every now and then there is a nice little bonus thing that gets done that is more interesting than reorganizing the underwear drawer.

Here is the new home of the fountain:

It is a much more pleasant spot for it too.

Next to the stone it is resting on, in a muddy hole with a root at the entrance, lives Mr. Toad. He scared the daylights out of me the other night when I was out with my flashlight hunting snails and slugs in my nightgown with my homemade household cleaner in a spray bottle. . . Trust me, you do not want to hear the gory details... Anyway, as I was flashing my light here and there, WHAM! there he was in all his bug eyed wartyness. Made me jump he did.

Along a less gruesome avenue, I have started a pair of socks with yarn so fine that I think I may lose my sanity before they are complete. A few times already I have almost decided this kind of knitting is not for me. I mean size 0 bamboo needles . . . ack! By the time I finish these we might have already decided who the next president of the United States will be, God help us. OR I will be in the looney bin. It could go either way.

Well, that's it from here today. And now a word from the Hen:

I love your fountain. It's so Yetzirah-ish! Can you hear the trickle of water in the house?

That reminds me, I need to go put some water in my fountain. Haven't figured out how to connect it to a source of running water.

    Bless

My Winter List was about as long as yours. I've gotten a few things done, at least one major project down yet I feel a bit overwhelmed at my grandoise ideal in the wee dark hours of January. Maybe I should just win the lottery and end the pain. Not that I'd let another living soul touch my garden or house, I just want to be able to buy ALL the raw material NOW then slug away at it until frost hits in the fall *sigh*

The fountain is very pretty. I'd like to have one just off the front porch. Feel free to come help me with that.......

I'm thinking you scared the toad far more than he scared you. After all, who would expect a woman in a nightgown to go sneaking about the garden at night?

So, what kind of super cleaner do you mix that has the ability to eliminate dirt inside and then go outside to kill slugs, and yet, not harm the surrounding plants? (I'm assuming that last part because I can't imagine you spritzing anything about that would harm your garden.)
