The Armada Sails Into The Living Room
Thu May 29 2008

Well, I finally went and did it.

I have been thinking about it for a very elderly coon's age.

I bought meself a bargain basement, refurbished, plain jane, bona fide laptop.

It came bare bones. It barely has a brain. But it DOES have wireless capability though I can't get a good signal from anyone's spare vibes in the neighborhood, but there are places I can use it that will. So I can get on the internet with it.... eventually.

But that's not what it's for anyway.

It's for editing my novel. And maybe someday writing another one. I realized I was putting off the latest re-write because I could not face sitting at this computer desk for hours on end. I just cannot.

I have spent the last hour and a half getting to know how the Compaq works and uploading my novel files from my flash drive. I also bought a little wireless mouse for it, because the tiny tracking ball mouse doodad was unacceptable in the extreme.

It felt really fun to be cozed up on the couch, geeking away.

I think Mr. Compaq Armada M700 and I are going to be friends.

Say how do to him...

(You know this means you have no more excuses, don't you?)

Yes I do.

And I'm not afraid.

Not one bit.

And you're not the boss of me either, smart ass.

    Oh, good for you!

I wrote the first draft of my first novel long ago on a desktop, crammed into an uninviting room. I think that's one of the reasons it took me so long to finish it! The second one was completed in blisteringly fast time (comparatively) once I got a laptop of my very own.

The laptop has travelled to several countries with me now, and comes away for the occasional weekend. So those sudden bursts of inspiration are no longer jotted down on sure-to-be-lost bits of paper.

I don't know how I managed without it. Well, yes, I do: not very well.

    How do, Mr. Armada.
I am so excited you have come into her life.
May the world never be the same again.
    Hugs, Tiggs

Well, hi there, Mr. Armada. I hope you and Yetz have a long and happy relationship.

And I'm looking forward to the next novel. Will it be published here?

    Bless

Oh, I've lusted after a lap top forever. I'm jealous.
