Quiet Time
Mon Jan 05 2009

It's pretty quiet around here today.

It's a good quiet though. I didn't realize how much I was 'on' while Bandit was here. He required constant attention.

I have decided to take a break from fostering for an undetermined amount of time. I suppose I'll know when I'm ready. But for now we are all recharging our batteries, letting our wells fill back up with water and all other kinds of analogies for regrouping you might like to think up.

I was all geared up mentally to do some work in the garden, but it turned into a drizzly cloudy day, so my plans are on hold. But never fear, I have plants and seeds and lots of good intentions for the garden this year. I feel like I let last year's growing season slip through my fingers. I don't want to repeat that, so I'm starting early to set some things in order.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow if it is sunny out to show some before and after. The after will take some time to develop, but I wanted a record.

[album 65561 GoofyHen2.JPG]It IS a little quiet
around here today.
But you know,
there's bread baking
in the oven right now.
That always cheers us up.
I'm going to focus on that.
B'kay?

Taking a break is a good idea. Let Ben get settled into being a permanent dog. Yeah. Good choice. Breaks are a good thing.

The smell of homemade bread. Mmmmmmm......

Looking forward to seeing your pics! I'll post some pics tomorrow of where I live. They will be old ones mostly as I haven't solved my lack of camera prob but it's a lot the same as it was. Well, except for a TON of progress on the old house at the foot of the hill. I might have some pics other people have taken that are more recent. Yeah, the boonies are pretty cool. I did like my drive into the big city today though. I need a bit of both.

Bread in the oven? Oh Red, delicious!! My mouth waters.

We'll have some sunny days anon. And you can get started on your garden. Go dig and get your fingernails all grubby, and have a ball!!!

    Bless

Quiet time is good, rejuvenation is good. Gardening is good!

I am needing a gardening fix, but since my landscape is white and frozen, I had to settle for planting some bulbs.

The smell of bread baking is good for the soul. I got a "kit" to make cinnamon bread for Christmas. Should mix that up tomorrow when I put on a big pot of beef barley soup. Would you and Red like to come for dinner?

    Take care.

Sometimes I don't think we realize how much stress we are feeling until it is removed.

Bread baking is excellent therapy for just about anything that ails you. Just thinking about it brought back a wonderful memory of coming home from school on baking day. Every care drifted away with the smell of fresh baked golden loaves and the promise of one piece of warm bread slathered in butter....... sheer bliss.

Bed baking, I will be right down! Look forward to seeing your garden this year. I am sure it will be magnificent! I have to very large bags of spring bulbs to plant. I need to think about getting to that as well. Emjoy your time in the dirt getting those hands dirty!
