Knitting School
Thu Feb 12 2009

I took a class this week with my knitting guild. It was on how to work Entrelac .
I have seen and admired this engineering marvel for some time, so was eager to give it a go.

Here is my class work:

I learned how to do it. But I don't think I will do it much any more. It was a tad too fiddly for me, and I can't say as I enjoyed the 'feel' of the fabric it creates either. There is a certain fragility to it that is disconcerting to say the least. I think I like my knitting on the sturdy side. That must be why I'm not much into lace either.

But I have lived long enough to know that things change, and so do people, and since I'm a people, one day I might fall madly in love with entrelac AND lace.
It was certainly a nice class and I'm glad I learned how to do it. At least it won't be a mystery any more. That's worth something right there.

We are bracing for what I hope turns out to be a bigger rain storm. Every drop is greatly appreciated around here right now.  Speaking of which, I think I should go air out the dogs before it does start to rain...

I'll be happy to send you some of the rain that we've had over the last day and a half that sent the rivers rising and the backyards and basements to flooding. I'm fairly sure I spotted Maggie rowing across the back yard on a fallen tree limb while using Chances tail as a rudder....

Interesting pattern. It looks sturdy. Kind of like a different version of cable.

Well, you learned something new. Not all is lost.

    Bless

I am lookign forard to the upcoming storm as well. When in Truckee the past few days we had a big snow storm. Beautiful. That knitting work is amazing! Thank you for caring for our kitties while we were gone. Much appreciated!

I think it is always good to learn something new from time to time.
    Keeps the mind sharp.
    Interesting look that Entrelac.
    I'm not into fiddly either.

I love learning new things; it is in the learning that we determine if it is something we might like or put to good use.

It is an interesting technique, but I'm curious; how might one use such a pattern?
