At Last
Sun May 03 2009

Amid all the raindrops.... the amazing, the miraculous, the most unexpected May rains, they decided to bloom.

Cupani Sweet Peas.

The original strain they say that all our modern Sweet Peas descended from.

They smell divine, altering one's consciousness.

I don't even want to pick any of them yet. It seems wrong.

I'm curious to see how all the others that I planted will do.  This is one of two plants that reseeded themselves from last year's crop. It is only fitting that they be the first to bloom. They survived the winter. That has to count for something.

I planted a sweetpea this year. It's my first ever and sadly, they aren't hardy here *sigh*. I'll be interested to see what color mine is because yours sure is pretty!

Those are beautiful! I can't decide if they are more gorgeous fully bloomed or in that lovely, spherical bud form. Wow!

My sweet peas failed to reseed themselves. I'm not sure if I'm disappointed in them or proud of them. Having chosen the child-free life myself, I can't say as I blame them for choosing the same.
