Just When You Think You Have Seen It All...
Fri Apr 30 2010

As is often the case, I cannot re-trace the path that led me to this discovery, but I ran across this marvel on the internet yesterday... OH! Wait. I remember now! I saw this tree on the tv program 'Life'.

(See what you can do when you take a moment to actually USE your brain?)

It's called a Dragon's Blood Tree. This one grows on an island near Yemen.

Prepare to be amazed.

There are times I think I have seen everything. I have no idea why I come to this silly conclusion. The world, no matter how much we like to say has shrunk because of ease of air travel, is still a very big and very mysterious place...

Here is a web site with more pictures of this amazing tree:

What an odd tree! It really does look other-worldly. The entire terrain does, actually.

RYC: Keep us posted on how your doubled up experiment works out. Mine grow way too big for that. I just can't seem to learn how to prune tomatoes; keeping the productive branches but losing the excess. I'm always afraid of cutting off a productive branch.

It looks like a giant mushroom!

Did I miss something? Beans? Tomatoes? Huh?
I didn't get that memo about those things.

I've seen this someplace before, maybe on the 'Net somewhere. Beautiful, in a strange way. Certainly unique among trees.

    Bless

I wonder if those things could cope with a Pennsylvania winter...?
